Reviving dead forums

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Reviving dead forums

No I'm not talking about TLR. I'm talking about another board of which I was made moderator a while back. I'm like a hired gun, trying to revive the forum through various means. I wanted to ask the mods here though a question. (Or anyone else who knows for that matter) How would you go about reviving a dead forum?

Link to it from other places, see if you can attract visitors to it. pull up old member lists and send notice of the "changes" to the members of the forum. Don't ask me about gaining traffic, most hits I've ever had was 550, and that was in a round of Battlefield: 1942.

Post a link to it on pages sites that have a Guest Book. That way, its not trolling.

Lots of folks look at guest book entrys, other than just the owners.

A guestbook isn't a place to advertise. It's used for commenting on the site or to send a comment to the webmaster. Anyone starts advertising his/her site on my guestbook will find his comment deleted when I see it.

yea, if i had a guestbook, i wouldn't be happy if someone just came in and posted a link to a site...

Actually, what I was refering to, was, Most guest books enclude a line for your home web page, you post the link there. Not in the comments section.

LOL! I am doing the same thing, reviving forums on my board like TLR is doing here for it's various forums! I am looking for other subjects that could draw people in. Like TLR is doing Dungeon Seige and making more specilized forums for specific subjects. All other suggestions here are also very good like posting your link in relavent places is very important.

It's all about marketing. Give the people what they want and maybe they'll come.
