Nexus: The Jupiter Incident

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Nexus: The Jupiter Incident

I saw this game a few days ago at EB, and noting the interesting design of the Game angine and storyline, placed a mental note to look up some reviews and the official website.

Official website

It looks pretty interesting, and i have been intreigued for some time of the abilities of a TFS (tactical fleet simulator) for some time. looks like a good game

opinions?

if you guys didn't know

Nexus is what used to be Imperium Galactica III. a great game, much improved visually. lots of bugs though. won't do well on my computer..the demo runs slow. i can look at one ship just fine, but if i see more than that, it gets really bad lag

Sounds suspiciously like Homeworld or many Star Trek games. I'll take flying the ships over controlling 20+ ships that I'm not flying. Give me a fighter, some good weapons, and some enemies to shoot at, that's my kind of game!

you say it as if homeworld were a crap game. *shoots boscoe*

Now kimk, shooting is kinda drastic. *plants explosives around boscoe and proceeds to a bomb shelter nearby shouting "HEATHEN!"*

It does look kinda different, i haven't played (and have no intention of playing) it.

a little mutiny on our hands eh?

*Brings out the gravity gun* Bring it on!

Actually the Star Trek games are often very good. They take established genres and put a twist on them, adding new things.
For instance the Armada games allows units t have secondary weapons, which C&C still doesn't do.
Birth of the Federation is like Civ, only there are dozens of smaller races, such as the Bajoran and Talarians which you can bring into your camp using diplomacy. BOTF also has the best diplomacy of any strategy game I have ever played. RTW and Civ3 don't compare.
And Bridge Commander is like the X-Wing games, only instead of a stud fighter, you get a ship with FIREPOWA!

fl is about the best space sim i've seen yet homeworld is ok but typically gives me a headache after two hours trying to beat the fifth mission

yeah, but i've already handed him a fatal wound. he's dead in.. 5..4.3...2..1.. yeah. he's dead.

so whens the game comin out ?

Post Fri Jan 14, 2005 7:05 am

Relax kimk, and btw, you missed me.
Homeworld's a great game, I've played it many times. I just prefer having a single ship to control and fighters and bombers to blast out of space. It's just not my cup of Earl Grey, I never said it was bad. Geeze, some people get soooooo bent out of shape.....
