Best games of 2004

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

POP2 *was* a great game. I'm actually surprised that nobody has created a topic about it.

MGS3 is one of the best games ive ever played, the graphics are great, the gameplay is awsome, and the plot is sweet (so far).

Half-Life 2, without a doubt. After that - Rome: Total War.

Half Life 2, the physics engine blew me away, even little cinder blocks top over if you stand on thier side!
Although the storyline was not what i was expecting...

Call of duty, medal of honor - bleh... I'll play them only if I'm allowed to be on the side of guys im Feldgrau in SP.
So far, I kinda liked Desert Rats vs Afrika Corps - surprisingly for a strategic game, it has an interesting storyline, not to speak about the pleasure of storming enemy camps with Tigers .
ROTK was also nice, especially the transitions from the movie to the game. Will say about HL2 after I try it.

X2 eh Chips...is there something we need to know about

I unfortunately havent been able to play most games this year, I've been trying to get this cursed rig (meaning my uncompromising $3000 paperweight that I agonizingly call a computer ) back to 100% performance. The few games I have bought have been older games (Halo 1, Star Wars: KOTOR, Unreal 2003). Though I have played some of the newer console games, Halo 2 is surprisingly fun for a FPS but a bit overrated if I may say. Splinter Cell 2 was fun, better than the first in the sense that it was harder, I blew the the first game like it was nothing . I havent played it but imagine that Tribes Vengeance is up there for best game of the year. I love its predecessors and can't imagine the Tribes series going up in flames. Also I regretfully say I've yet to play NFSU2, which I'm sure is another of the best games of the year.

I got NFSUG2 for Christmas. I've had a limited time to play it, but I am impressed. There are a few aspects I don't enjoy (i.e. the lack of cops or any law enforcement, especially in a game that deals with illegal racing. Cops make or break a racing game, IMO, and without them, its just boring) and the constant use of comic-like storyboards as opposed to cutscenes. The graphics are well developed, and it melds my two favorite car racing games together: Midtown Madness, and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2. NFSHP2 is still a better game in my opinion. It was a bit simpler, and though all the car customization is fun, in the end I just want to race. Someone else will have to make a call on this one.

Bah, I haven't played any 2004 games. they all stank as far as I'm concerned. They should release a good Space Sim, that would get me hooked for sure.
