Is the Nintendo DS really worth it?

From what I have heard at school, all of the students are split into 3 groups. One that says the DS is awesome, one that says the "2 screens are gay", and another group that says it just plain sucks. I have played the DS at wal-mart and Game Stop, but did not get one for Christmas (Instead I got a new computer, but hey, I'm not complaining). My point is, I enjoyed the time I have had to play it at Game Stop, (Not at wal-mart because so many people were using it the touch screen was just like it was on some serious drugs) mainly playing Metroid Prime:Hunters. But if anyone here at TLR owns a Nintendo DS, then tell me, is it worth blowing 149 dollars for?

Esky is right, PCs are upgradeable, more useful and such, but let's not turn this into another PC/Console war.

I've heard from people with DS's and I get mixed reactions, some say it's good, some say it's stupid. My opinion is.... I hate those things. I haven't had a handheld system since my GB color.

hmm, yes, i like PC, but at the moment, i don't have a job (not old enough) so i can't upgrade at all. consols never really need to be upgraded. and i can play lots of games on xbox live (not to mention halo 2)

The DS is better than the PSP, way better. If you travel a lot, get the DS.
