Hubble to be serviced by shuttle! w00t

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

hubble most likely to be servicd by shuttle.. yay!

definitely a relief. i know some of us here might not even care to blink at this, but i definitely am happy with this turn of events in favor of hubble.

Glad to hear that.

Life is only given once ... and most often by accident

Excellent. It's a welcome change from the plans they originally had to destroy it .

I thought they were just going to leave it floating about until its 'decaying orbit' destroyed it. Regardless, tis good news indeed!

decaying orbit? well since hubble is orbitting pretty dam high up, it'll take centuries for it to degrade enough to burn up in the atmosphere.

Four years, actually. They won't be able to go service it until 2007 I believe, due to the safety problems with the shuttle. Of more immediate concern is the food shortage on the ISS, which could result in abandoning the station if the scheduled Christmas supply mission fails. Its becoming a problem especially since the Russian spacecrafts can't carry as much (though they do somehow appear to be more reliable...), and food space must be sacrificed for experiments (quoting from AP in local newspaper)

The money spent on the Hubble Space Telescope is about the best use of our tax dollars I have ever seen. I really enjoy that wallpaper. Plus they proved that Black Holes exist. What next? I can't wait to see.

Is that a political statement?
