Anyone here play poker at all?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Anyone here play poker at all?

Anyone interested in Poker at all? I've just recently started playing online. Actually, I started with fake money first, and have just lately upgraded to real money (which is slightly terrifying, but oh well).

Anyway, just thought I would post for those of you who might be interested in playing some online poker. If you are, you should sign up through a site called Poker Source Online. Basically, if you sign up with them, you can qualify for free poker chip sets and stuff, just for playing. Several of the sites only require you to play a certain number of hands, and since you can just fold 95% of them, you don't really end up having to pay any money. I've been playing for a couple weeks and I already have a 500pc Poker Chip set that I got free (free shipping too, via UPS) AND I'm up about $80. Not a bad deal.

I wouldn't really recommend this to anyone who doesn't already know how to play poker quite well. The chances of losing money still exist, but if you play smart and patient, you will generally win (averaging about 1 big pot an hour), AND you will get free stuff through PokerSourceOnline.

So, yeah, I'll shut up now. I realize this is sort of a plug, but it's just a really cool thing I've gotten into lately and wanted to share it with everyone. Esepcially those of you who really enjoy playing poker. The poker chips are the nice clay composite ones. Really cool to play with.

If you're interested at all, just check out www.pokersourceonline.com and read up on it. Doesn't cost you a penny to read some of the posts on the forums and check out the offers. Actually, it doesn't cost anything to sign up at PSO either. You only deposit money if you ever sign up for a promotion.

If you do sign up at PSO, just enter WapCaplet (case sensitive) in the referral field so they know I sent you.

Ok, now I'll really shut up.

i smell advertising, lets play my version of poker * poke poke poke poke *

Post Wed Dec 08, 2004 11:14 am

I play texas hold 'em, but I can find plenty of games in real life.

My opinion is that live is better than online, but I've heard good things about online poker.

Post Wed Dec 08, 2004 11:51 am

Fraid the only card game i risk, is black jack. I would lose my shirt with poker.

Post Wed Dec 08, 2004 12:11 pm

Sorry if it came off as advertising. That really wasn't my goal.

Just a fun thing I've gotten into in the last few weeks and wanted to share with people.

More of a "if-you're-interested-here's-how" type thing than anything else.

Unfortunately I don't really know an effective way to say "Hey, do you want free poker chips?" without people thinking it's advertising or spam.

It's not, in this case, but what can I do?

watching telly recently and found out that i could get an original honest to goodness parker pen ( real hight quality NASA quality duragradion plastic ) if i transferred all of my curent accounts to some bank i never heared of. totally jumped on it

poker? counting cards? luck? cheeting? the only skill i can bring to a game like like that is my ability to read people and situations. it 'aint perfect but i've lots of practise and so far i'm beatin' the odds. can't do that online! so i'll see you over a smokey table when i've a very cheap watery whiskey infront of me for effect. i'll drink the real stuff when i leave with yer monies my young friend. ( i wish )

i watch texas holdem on t.v. all the time and it rocks, not quite FL rock, more small stone.

Im with FInal Day, although I still loose my shirt with Black Jack but at least I know how I lost it!

Well, I can only speak from experience, and I guess it depends on the person. I've managed to maintain the patience and skill required for online play. So far, I have a free 500pc poker chip set and I've managed to make over $75 USD. By the time I finish all the promos I'll have over 1000 chips, a texas holdem folding table top, chip trays, cards and all the other little goodies for playing poker at home with friends. And it will cost me nothing. I'm not even playing with my own money anymore, just money I've won.

Finally, a hobby that not only pays for itself, but one that actually gives you free stuff (as long as you are patient and skillful enough).

For me, card games are like chess; I don't play them on-line, and I have no-one to play with in real life .

I LOVE POKER! I LOVE BLACKJACK! I LOVE CARDS!

Seriously though, disregard my last three statements. I love poker though, as well as all card games. I don't play poker for money for several reasons.
1: I'm under 21, gambling age.
2: Gambling is illegal in the state of Ohio. (As far as I know, we only have the lotto)
3: I'm flat broke.

Besides that I could go for some extra chips, always need some when I'm done schoolin the buds at Halo or FL and we need something to get our eyes adjusted to "Real Life" that everyone talks about (As one person states: "There is a real life you know" Me: "Really, then where are the jump holes?". Blackjack is my game though, only one person has beaten me in multiple consecutive hands, and it turns out she had a matching deck that she was playing out of. Euchre too, and hearts, and solitare, and really pretty much everything to do with cards.

Christmas, is that a BF1942 mod or something?

I love poker but I can't find any live players and it seems kind of pointless to me if you can't stare your opponent in the face with your cards in one hand and your gun in the other. (gun laying on table of course...rude to point gun before accusations of cheating - Texas Etiquette)

i enjoy playing although i dont win all that often. just a few days ago i lost $2 to a friend of mine.

Post Thu Dec 09, 2004 12:36 am

The best thing to do is to take $2 down to the bank and pick up 40 5c pieces. Then use the the coins as the chips. That way, there's a sense of achievement as you are winning money, but you don't have to worry about about losing a lot. Ah, I used to do that back in the old days at school...

i kick too much *** at the game, so i stopped playing. so that the less gifted people can have a go at the wins

well i play a game called gynami (or however its spelt) not many seem to know this game.. and those that do have some kind of asian in their blood.

its a 12 card game or 16, i can't remember, cause mum, sis, and i got bored of the default rules that we pushed the card numbers to 20 to make things challenging.

Just thought I would mention that one of the promotions through PokerSourceOnline is called Instant Bankroll.

You do not have to deposit ANY money for this promotion. No credit card numbers, no bank account information, nothing. You sign up through www.instantbankroll.com and PokerSourceOnline gives you $75 REAL money to play with at PartyPoker.com. You have to play 500 raked hands with that $75, after which they will credit your account with an additional $25. Any money you have left is yours to keep. So if you know how to play, you could walk away with anywhere from $25 to $100 or more FREE.

I know it sounds crazy, but keep in mind that POKER sites do not make money from people who lose. They are not like a traditional casino. Casino games rely on players who lose money. Poker games don't. The Poker site just takes a rake (usually 25 cents) from each hand that is played. That's how they make their money. They don't care who wins or loses the pot.

Anyway, just thought if there was anyone interested in actually trying out online poker, here's a way to do it for FREE (aside from the time commitment). Anything you win after 500 raked hands (and the $25 bonus) is yours to keep.

You can check it out at www.instantbankroll.com. They are only accepting 25 new sign-ups per day so if you really want to play you would have to wait until midnight, when the server resets, and try to sign-up fast. Bit of a drag.

You can also read about it at www.pokersourceonline.com.

If you DO decide to check it out, please use WapCaplet (case sensitive) in the referral field. I get points to use at PSO if you do. If you have any questions, let me know.

The beauty of this offer is that if you lose EVERYTHING, you lose nothing. And you are not obligated in ANY way to pay ANYTHING at ANY time. They don't even ask for any of your banking or credit card information.

That's all for now...
