Would anyone play it?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Would anyone play it?

Hey guys, been a while since i posted something lol (not that anyone notices anyway) anyhoo, i have been working on an interesting project involving good ole DOOM 2. i Have beaten DOOM3 a couple of times and was not fulfilled with the game so i blew the dust off my old copy of doom2.

To my AMAZEMENT i discovered soo many new sourceports for the game..

1.) Doom Legacy
2.) JDoom <---- my fav!

Jdoom give you FULL dynamic OpenGl or Direct3D lighting as well as full 3d MD2 model support (MD3 on the way).

Legacy gives basicalyl the same minus the 3D model support and full dynamic lighting, BUT give you the Ability to render fill 3D environments!!!

Check out the sites for all the options...

But the main focus is this...i have written a Sci-Fi story kinda a mix between resident evil, doom, and Alien all mixed together. And i am basing a doom megawad on the story.

Now being it is an older game, and i know a few people here DO like the older stuff and since this game gets a modern twist, would any of you all be interested in playing it? I know it sounds wierd to ask this here but hey i know you guys and respect your opinions so i figured why the hell not

so any input will be great! if anyone wants a preview of the story i can post a few excerpts...

so any ideas, suggestions, and or constructive critisim is welcomed

thanks for the time guys

EDIT: Fixed your text, changed them to link format - Para

You had me sold with doom 2. I love retro style games.

You may want to check out some of the other Doom engines; ZDaemon, GLDoom, ZDoom (my favourite)...

i messed around with zdoom a few times but the JDoom and Legacy ports are the best accentuations to the classic game....they give it the "new flare" taht some of the newer games have. But i got a tid bit off info....

if anyone is interested in aquiring doom...go to wal-mart and they have the "Doom Collecters Edition" which is $9.99 USD and it has

Ultimate Doom
Doom2
Final Doom

pretty good deal for 10 bucks....i got that pack when i got Doom3, figured hell, i lost my original when Doom95 came out.

But THANKFULLY people are making good source ports for doom....keeping the best FPS made alive and kicking....(best of its time and well still REALLY good.)

oh man, you are digging out a lot of memories here
- 1st MP game played
- 1st LANs
- 1st modding / exe-hacking , mapbuilding

i just wish i had as much free time now as back then.
I played JDoom a couple of times on tha maps i built '95 - you are right, the game still rocks. and no shooter matches the speed of the good old doom. while straferunning at 90 kmh is unrealistic - its incredibly fun
doom was the 1st game that i edited like a madman. knew many lovely details of the game.

hehehe the first MP game I ever played was called Spy vs Spy and it came out around about 1984

^ Ohhh, I remember that one! I have played Spy vs Spy on the Commodore 64.

Oh dang, I'm getting old...

the C64 was the definitive SvS platform...but I found the 8 colours of the Amstrad CPC464 quite appealling too

hey does anyone know if the mods would let me post the Demo maps i made on here i hate posting on the doom sites... they are kinda rude ya know...by not going to whine about it lol....so if anyone has objections please feel free to chime in your 2 cents (tis a freedom of speech that makes this place great).

Never played Doom? You havn't experienced gaming history until you play it...You must play it...the first game I ever played....so cool...so many memories. I bought the collector's edition not long ago and it sits proudly on my desk unlike the other dinosaurs which line the bottom of my CD holder.

If you havn't played it, you havn't experience true gaming.
I'll quote the blurb from the back of the case.

Legendary Shooter Legendary Collection

From id software™, the name in first-person action comes the ultimate in explosive terror. Rip, slice and blast your way to freedom in the Doom® hits that put action on the map.

Omg I regularly play Doom 2 over Doom Legacy! In fact, Doom 2 was the first game I ever played! And completed! It has the best final level ever
