MPAA To Borrow A Page From The RIAA

The Hollywood motion picture industry is thinking of launching some preemptive law suits to prevent file sharing of their movies up front and early.

Maybe I am missing something but..... even with broadband..... how quickly can anyone really rip off a movie anyway? Isn't the threat of piracy still going to be at the counterfeit DVD level?

It can be done quickly enough. Besides, it's almost 100% free. Most people would opt for a long wait and no cost over a short wait and some cost, wouldn't they? I would.

Go to Wired.com and do some searching - they have a one page article (?) that explains why piracy over p2p is possible and feasible. But in short: apparently this BitTorrent is "turning the laws of filesharing upside down".

It's turning the entire practice of file-sharing upside-down. Bram Cohen is a genius. More people = more bandwidth = faster downloads. Brilliant.
