Magazines

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Magazines

I'm curious, what magazines do all of you like to read?

For news, current events and editorializing I read Macleans (sort of a Canadian Time) and The Economist. Occasionally I'll read a Time or Newsweek if I've nothing else to do.

My science and technology sources are Popular Science and Discover. Popular science is great; it's accessible but not patronizing and isn't quite as tabliod-esque as Popular Mechanics. Discover, on the other hand, is much more "hard science" oriented; granted it isn't as dense as Scientific American or various academic journals but, for me, that's just fine.

Every so often I'll pick up an aviation magazine too. I used to have a subscription to Air & Space but I stopped renewing it a few years ago becuase it cost more than it was worth. If I'm in a bookstore I may fip through it though.

I wouldn't be posting on a forum like this if I didn't like games. I get all of my (print) PC gaming info from Computer Gaming World and PC Gamer. I rarely buy but, as with aviation mags, I'll flip through one if I see it.

I only have subscriptions to Discover and Scientific American, but if I want to read anyhting else, my town library always has the latest issues of all the major magazines so if i want to read something i just go there and read it for free.

I'm subscribed to OPS2, but I sometimes pick up New Scientist when I spot it.

New Scientist? Never heard of it. On a scale from 1 to 10 how dense would you say it is?

Post Sun Oct 31, 2004 9:50 am

I don't know quite what you mean by dense, but it's the kind of magazine that assumes a fairly high level of background knowledge. Still interesting though.

New Scientist is outstanding!
Don't really read magazines much though - and if I did, it would probabily be a 'lads mag' like FHM or some other such drivvel. Simply for the fact that they don't take themselves, or their readers, seriously. Its light-hearted dribble - with attractive women

are we talking for recreation or professional as well?

Post Sun Oct 31, 2004 11:00 am

Recreation: Power Unlimited (games), PCGameplay (games, occasionally), ID&T Magazine (dance and lifestyle, neighbour is subcribed, but doesn't read it), Voetbal International (soccer, dad pays) and off course the Donald Duck!

Professional: Muziek en Beeld (music, movies and games), DVDzone (movies), Power Unlimited (I love combining recreation with work . Various other music/movie magazines.

I don't read magazines that much, but I do like to read outdoor magazines, and the occasional game magaizne I pick up from time to time.

National Geographic, PC Gamer.... that's it. I used to get Gamecube magazines, but I've sick of reading them after primary school.

I have a subscription to the PC Gameplay Wiz Refers to, It's a somesort Professional Gaming magazine, I trust it with all my purchases on PC related issues, because the past has proven the not to be biased and they were right on everytime with their scores.

further more I read the Donald Duck weekly issues (great mag that is) and the BreakOut! its a magazine for youngsters, and it holds some fascinating articles.
