Battlestar galactica mini series

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Battlestar galactica mini series

I managed to catch an episode the other day, the thing that caught my attention most was the camera work.

the camera seems much more 'alive' than anything else ive seen, its almost like they put a camera on the actors heads when they talk privatley. and also when they have to cut to a different ship in the fleet or an incoming ship.

I know that there was a mini series last fall on Sci-Fi and i heard that another is due out in the spring, but i am not too excited about it, I found last years Battlestar mini series a little dull, it strayed too far from the original show/movie.

You can run, but run fast.... 1 shot is all I need.

I've seen it a few times now. It's gotan awesome pilot, no cheese and great VFX. I eagerly await the series. Olimos was great in his role.

one word, eMule. But I won't go advertising it, cause it violates some laws...

Love the pilots. Can't wait for the series. What I also like about it is it seems to be the most real space show. These huge ass ships do not have 'shields' which makes it much more dangereous, and more fun. Also, they do have ammo limits, none of those damn 'phasers' or quantum torpedos. Plus it has a lot of action, a formidible enemy, as well as ironies with man's creation comming back to bite them in the...

Anyway, I too can't wait for the series to start up.

You know that hollywood isn't the only movie producer. There is Universal Studios (who made Galactica I believe.)... I understand where you are comming from though...

I saw the 4 hour pilot a couple of weeks ago and absolutely loved it. So far the series has been ok, but I think sometimes they try to cram too much storyline into a one hour episode...it would have worked better as a purely continuous storyline, almost serial-ish, rather than the typical Stargate SG-1 type different-story-every-week-along-the-same-theme....but saying that, I'm really enjoying it. The characters are strong and the whole thing seems well directed....I even managed to get my wife to sit through 30 mins of an episode without taking the p***, so it must have a semi-universal feel.

I think the one thing that makes it stand out in the sci-fi field, is that its like watching a drama with an unusual setting, rather than an explosive sci-fi fest with minimal storyline. They definitely put some thought into it.

And I liked the way they introduced the "old technology" (ie. the same technology as the original series) by showing that "new technology" is easily destroyed by the cylons....I thought that was a very clever way of making it look like the original series without it all looking too dated.

I also saw the mini series. I liked it a lot. As far as the last TV series in the 70s-80s, the tec, back then was'ent vrey good. Iam going to enjoy the new plot twists. Also in the old series the Earth was in the present time , and they were the future......................AZAR

We do not have the TV series of the new verson yet. Any coments?

i was watching andromeda today, perfect no brainer for those days where you feel wretched, and i was wondering, is the girl who plays becca valentine the same one who plays starbuck in galactica?

wow, i just saw the first episode of the series. this show kicks ass. Reminds me of Sci-Fi gold Space: Above and Beyond. Definately worth a watch for anyone who like the old space war plot device.
Although the first episode has "previously on battlestar galactica" and the way they act it seems like i';ve missed something, was there a prequel episode or something?

there was a previous series in the 70's...

FF: Nope, sure looks like it though. Too lazy to check credits, maybe they're family.

@Archie - yes there was, ignore this rabble....there are 2 x 2 hour pilot episodes (which they nicknamed the "mini series" ). In these episodes you see the rise of the cylons, the destruction of the 12 colonies and the collaboration of the remaining survivors. To be frank, they rocked. I noticed that they've just been released on DVD as one 4 four hour movie....I'd recommend picking it up, its worth it as a film in its own right.

We're up to episode 3 of the proper season 1 on sky at the moment.

HTH.
