With any luck, I have some money coming my way sometime in the forseeable future, and I was thinking about getting myself some modelling/rendering software, something like Bryce. So I was wondering what any of you would have to say: what should I get?

You mean "chocolate"?

I would advise getting something free. There are reasonable free image-editing programs, like GIMP. This should be true for most other kinds of software too. Also, if something's free.... you can't be ripped off.

"3D Studio Max" is supposed to be very good, there's "Bryce" which you have mentioned, or you could go for "Lightwave". Those are the main ones from memory.
