Okinawa, Japan

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Okinawa, Japan

Hey, just thought I would do a little bit of advertising for one of the coolest places (in my limited experience) that I've ever lived in. I am currently on a Marine Corps Base while I live with my aunt and uncle for my senior year of High School.

Okinawa, Japan. Site of the largest battle in WWII (if I am correct), a lot of history here that I haven't even scratched the surface of. I have been to a lot of the tourist places such as a Naval Underground Headquarters used by the Japanese, really neat. I could go on forever about cool stuff I have seen here. There are other attractions as well. The best place in the world, said by many, to go SCUBA diving. Awsome Coral, as well as sea life. And if you are lucky, you can find a shell from the bombardment in the mid '40s. (I haven't, yet)

I personally cannot say enough about Okinawa. The people are great, even though they don't all like the U.S Military Bases here, but have really no choice in the matter (they do, but if we left, the economy would crumble).

If you are a sightseer, history buff, or an avid diver, put Okinawa on your list of places to go before you die.

Anyone else been to this tiny island? I'd be supprised if many have heard of it, much more if you've been here.

Sounds nice...got any photos?

...I don't know why, but when people say "Okinawa" I always think of Mr Miyagi from Karate Kid...I'm sure thats were he was supposed to be from

Karate originated from Okinawa, if you didn't know. Pictures... Standby...

this is the beach right off of the camp that I am at. Its not much to show the beauty of, but it is neet to see this everyday.

Er..... where's the beach?

Umm, High Tide... It was taken from the beach, and when it is high tide, it goes grass ==> water. Not much 'beach'. Nice water though

Xeno? you'd be suprised if anyone had heard of japan? you're crazy.

Plus the expense far exceeds my income. Although im itching to get over to the land of the rising fun.

But everything looks perfect from far away, come down now, but we'll stay."

I SAID OKINAWA not just Japan. I would be stupid to say that about Japan.

Edit: Actually, what you are pointing at is the one of the biggest countries on earth... China.

Japan's famous WWII sites: Ngasaki and Hiroshima, sites of the two atomic bombs, fat man and little boy.

Edited to prevent any political topics from arising from this non-political thread

Post Fri Oct 29, 2004 6:14 am

isn't it just....completely off topic too.

So come on, Okinawa, sell it to me...give me the top 5 things to do on Okinawa...

Post Fri Oct 29, 2004 11:48 am

I have never been there (or Japan at all ) but I did a search on Google Images for it and from what I see it looks very nice. More like vacation than naval duty

@Arcon: He clearly meant has anyone had heard of Okinawa. Do you have to skew his words?

where are all the old bunkers and air strips?

Post Fri Oct 29, 2004 9:30 pm

The base that I live on was an old Japanese air strip, now wearhouses though... There are also Japanese "hangers" that are little more than a hollowed out cave...

You know, if I didn't loose my intrests so quickly, I would be an Admiral by now...
