DVD software

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

DVD software

Have just got a DVD drive but it did not come with software etc.

Could anyone point me in the direction of a decent DVD player/codecs etc.?

if you're using XP and have the latest Media Player, and your video adapter hardware-supports DvD playback, then you don't need any. otherwise use PowerDvD, or WinDvD or a host of others, some of which are free, some of which you have to pay for. get an oem one, not retail, it won't cost you much, just a few pounds.

Go with Power DVD over Win DVD. The volume is better. Version 5 is great

Just how bad is Neo6? That's what came with my DVD dual layer RW everything unit.

Indy, not sure who you are asking, But, Win DVD volume out put is reduced to the point, I max my powered speakers and can bearly hear a movie. Powere DVD, I can leave the speakers half down and have good sound. Don't know why it is, but it does it. I paid for the full version with all the bells and whistles. It turns out to relly worth it, as I watch my DVD movies on the computer. *13" TV*

I picked up a new DVD-Drive about three weeks ago, and it came with Power DVD 5. It's good stuff. PowerDVD is your best bet.

I hope that it is a full version. The amount of trouble I've had trying to find a proper copy of PowerDVD...

Esq, I aought to send you a copy. I missed placed one and had to buy it again and the original turned up again.

The PowerDVD 5 that came with my DVD-Drive actually had the option for a 6-speaker sound system available, which I wasn't expecting at all. So, that was a pleasant surprise.

@Fd: Ooops. typo.

I meant Nero6. It includes a suite of burning software for DVDs and CD including InCD a way to burn to a CD with a drag, drop and click. I've read hot and cold review of it in equal measure so I can't tell for myself. I've only just installed it and then downloaded and installed the latest updates and, to my great dismay, XP decided that I'd changed my setup so much that I had to re-activate the OS or lose functionalities in 3 days. WTF

Anyone else ever have to reactivate XP because you updated software
