Spam now comes in a new flavour...

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Spam now comes in a new flavour...

...political spam! As some of you may be aware (by this I mean Australians ), Prime Minister John Howard's son took the liberty of sending politcal spam messages to voters in Australia through his computer company (link here). Instead of condemning the practice, Howard has defended it despite the fact that the government is supposed to have a strong stance against internet spam. The really amusing thing is that Howard decided that he would spam even more, and sent out a pre-recorded phone message to voters in a particular Australian seat just prior to the election. There is a link to the phone message here (small file). So, my question is this; is spam acceptable if it is used for benign () purposes such as political advertising?

Are you kidding? TLR house rules: spam is bad, politics is bad. Double taboo. If Mr Howard came here, oohhhh.....

disgusting. such a matter should go to the High Court (or Orstrayliun equivalent) for invasion of privacy. if firms shouldn't do it (which is q proper in my opinion) then neither should the Govt.

omg i hope no-one tells Blair!

I think this is why it took Congress three tries before the CanSpam act was passed. Thank goodness some semblance of good intent prevailed.

It pretty poor behaviour, especially for the leader of a country, eh? Even if it is "Orstraylia" (I'll get you for that Taw).

Mr Howard says the Liberal Party is fully aware of the arrangement and he has paid for it out of his own pocket.

Fine by me.

Oops sorry, I didn't mean you. You asked our opinions, and I answered, from the point of view of a TLR mod.
