let's just say that I'm not very likely to leave the environs of Manhattan on any future trips to the US. except maybe Boston. or Philadelphia.

oh yeah forgot SF, it's been a long time. I've always fancied New Orleans but never got round to it.

for some strange reason Texas doesn't figure very high on my list. can't think why. or Washington DC at the moment.

New Orleans is nice but go in the late Fall or Early Spring. Winter is OK too atchly. Other times of year it is much too humid and hot. Be forwarned that the tourists are a constant interference with your own progress about the town.

They used to teach in Texas that being the only State to join the Union as an independent republic, it remains the only State that may dissolve its union with the USA. .... Which, of course, leads to some ...er ...speculations.
