Plastic Surgery For You And Me

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Well, a big part of it I guess comes from the fact that according to society girls are only accepted if the have big boobs, thats the ones the guys are interested in in anyway or most guys. Afaik that is one of the biggest reasons, you got to live up to society fit int, all that kinda nonsense, people are not prepared to be different anymore, no-one wants to stand out, all wants to be the same asa others

@Taw....erm.... I saw something about that too but, you know what? It is even more ridiculously superficial, vain AND twisted than what you describe. The "why" of it and the actual "what" of it as in ... what needs to be bleached and who is looking in the first place

porn stars, erm some pop stars, minor celebrities, anyone who basically has to perform regular or occasional *degrading acts* to get by in the fickle world of fame.

Personally, i won't go for a girl who has changed their body to be more in line with how society "thinks" we should look like. Ear rings i don't mind.

Its like so many girls now that are bulimic (sp?) because society thinks that girls should be wafer thin. I read a news article at the beginning of this week and the number of bulimia cases has gone through the roof. Whilst not cosmetic surgery, this is still a form of trying to be like Naomi Campbell and such. Unfortunately society crams so much rubbish in to us that if you have any flab at all then its bad. I really feel for any girl, or guy if its something we do, if they revert to this. Of course their could be underlying issues such as depression and such, but i just believe it come down to how these celebs look and what they do.

Anyone remember when posh spice got the fake eye brow piercing and loads of girls went and did the same only to find out it was fake?

Its a very sad tale. IMO, women are sooo much better natural than "man made". Take Jordan for example. I've actually met her when i went to Max Power live in Birmingham last year. I swear the "things" she was carrying on her chest would knock you out if you stood next to her and she turned suddenly.

The way i personally see things is i don't give a s*** if i'm not like everyone else. I'm not very tall and underweight for my height and recieve at least two comments every day about it. But i'm not going to go and change me with surgery or other things to go against nature. I was meant to be me.

Bulimia is a clear indication of what advertising can do imo.

On the one hand, you have to look skinny yet "well developed," sassy-sexy but not completely slutty. On the other hand, you must eat all these wonderful foods that seemingly cause no physical deficits on all the people joyfully munching away on candies, pizzas, burgers, fries, cakes, donuts, etc., etc.,
How do you accomplish both in the real world? Stuff your face with all that food and then go to the restroom and hork it all back up.

Thanks Indy, this is what i was trying to say but ended up telling a story instead.

Indy actually you can eat as much as you want to and still stay thin, the story that chocolate and sweets make you fat is nonsense, what it basically comes down to, is that you need to use as much energy as you get in, then it is also a plus to more or less know what your metabolism is, the faster youir metabolism, the better for you. Its not really the food as such that makes youfat, its the lack of physical activity. Although I think big problems also come in because of the difference in peoples metabolisms, many people dont realise that that also play a big role in how easy you pick up weight. Blaming the food is st00pid

Post Fri Oct 01, 2004 4:28 pm

@sw.....

I'm not blaming the food. I am blaming the people who want to sell as much food as possible. I am blaming the people who more or less chain themselves to their easy chairs or sofas and watch all that advertising and then go out and do what is being suggested. Be it get skinny as possible or eat as much yummies as possible.

AND, there are people who go past a certain point at which time the body craves more calories than that person can possibly burn off. So it isn't always as simple eat and burn off.

Wow...our society is riddled with vanity. That was one amazing article. funny that everyone's ears basically stick out at 5 or 6, so children would either have to be extremely vain to get plastic surgery over it.

interesting myth: eating more makes you gain weight. completely untrue. If you eat more, your metabolism speeds up. It's only if you eat junk all the time...laze around at home... I'm not sure if I'm responding to anyone here, or just babbling. I need sleep...

Post Sat Oct 02, 2004 4:29 am

I actually agree with that one...

Post Sat Oct 02, 2004 5:29 am

"children would either have to be extremely vain"

nope, tis the parents who'd be vain. what kid of 5 or 6 wants an operation on his ears?

vanity of vanities, all is vanity.

Post Sat Oct 02, 2004 5:42 am

Maybe part of this comes from children teasing the others the whole time

Post Sat Oct 02, 2004 8:32 am

If parents reinforced the aceptance of the person as they are, beauty found with in, a lot of it would be unnnessisary. after all, none of the Vulture Men ever have surgery!

Post Sat Oct 02, 2004 9:21 am

Good concept Fd, only problem is with so much reinforcement by parents comes more abuse.

What hits a person more, someone telling you your great or calling you "Dumbo"? Ithink no matter how many times you hear "You like fine", the "Dumbo" joke will certainly eat away at that compliment and then some.

A friend of mine, many years ago, had his ears pinned back. If my memory serves me correctly it was for medical reasons.

But i remember he was picked on something awful. He was 7 i think. It was a long time ago.
