DMA Force Mode in WinXP

dammit im having trouble with my Samsung 52X CD rom which winxp detects it as PIO mode. is there a way to force it use DMA for a change? installing the mobo drivers still isnt much of a help. And I KNOW this CDROM is DMA available. Is there any Registry change or something i can do to resolve this situation?.

DMA is located in the Hardware Resources category in System Information. It displays information about your system's direct memory access (DMA). DMA transfers data between system memory and hardware devices without passing it through the CPU. The Resource column in the details pane displays the DMA channel that is being used by the device, which is listed in the Device column. The Status column displays the status of the device.

If the Status column indicates an error, such as Error, Degraded, Unknown, Pred Fail, Starting, Stopping, or Service, you can try Device Manager to locate and troubleshoot the problem, or reconfigure the settings in the system BIOS or EFI. Some BIOS allow you to set data transfer mode at hardware level - mine gives nme the choice of PIO/DMA and various levels of UDMA up to 5.

Check in the BIOS to enable DMA (if appropriate), and then go to the "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" section under the "Device Manager". Assuming that the BIOS tweaking worked, you should then be able to change the transfer modes under the Primary and Secondary IDE Channels.
