This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

no Supersnipa it's a well known scam originating from (usually) Nigerian gangs operating from Europe. I've had simalr e-mails from (supposedley) former presidents, Vice-presidents, Ministers, wives and daughetrs of the same, Central Banks, all of Central and W African countries that have military coups every other weekend. I reckon I'm worth about £300million now! in Rumbabwe umbonkos.

what happens is that anyone who's shtoopid enough to fall for this scam has to meet a "facilitator" in a park in Amsterdam or Bruxelles to hand over over a few thousand euros as an "arrangement" fee, said "facilitator" usually being a burly tough of Central African origin, and erm that's it, man disappears with fee, and poor mug is left high and dry. believe it or not, if he tries to stop the thug nicking off with his cash, several other toughs appear from nowhere and give poor sap a good kicking. imagine that.

but, apparently, people fall for it all the time. ah well.

Ever heard of harvesters/crawlers etc etc - they can take email addresses off of forums (thats if i have remembered the name rightly enough!). However, even worse............

Did you remember to opt out of being in hotmails yellow AND white "papers" - where your emails are freely available? Do you know that mail bombs can generate vast quantities of emails? I used to get some that strangely enough were all addressed to likewise named people - literally copied and pasted!

It doesn't mean someone here has given out your email - its more than slightly presumptious! Its highly likely that your hotmail antispam aint high enough.
I am lucky - AOL (spits to please the haters!) filter my email. They have a counter to show how many are filtered each day, something like a few hundred million emails are removed from all AOL accounts each day, or is it a few billion.....

Getting one or two emails doesn't mean here is to blame - as in a member. It maybe the email addy has been "read" off of the forums - or even more likely - your hotmail account = spam.

when is it going to end, i mean come on why don't the fools just give up?

Post Mon Sep 27, 2004 3:22 pm

unfortunately the guys pulling this scam are not the fools, the people who buy into it are. Before the days of everyone using email (har I sound old ) they used to fax it into businesses. Its been going for years, cos it must work.

P.T. Barnum said, there's a sucker born every day. And my favorite, A fool and his money are soon parted.

I get it all the time at work. It started about a year ago.

Usually something like:

Dear Kindest of Sir

I am (Insert odd name here) of (insert east african country here) and am the grandson of the late president of (insert east african country here). When he was shot and killed by militants while walking his dog, we discovered to our horror that he hadn't made a will.

Beacuse i will be shot while walking my dog if i take his fortune, believed to be around $200,000,000, i offer a percentage to you, kindest of sir, whilst the remainder will go to a swiss bank account to accumilate interest.

Your share of the amount will be 15% which is (insert whatever it is here).

All we need from you are your bank account details and the money will be transfered from your account in to ours. We will then proceed to laugh at you for being stupid enough to reply to this, and are sending a big burly bloke over to knock some sense in to you for a laugh. Believe us, its clearly for your own good. Whilst you lie there thinking of your stupidity, we are on a beach in Jamaica getting stoned off of your money (or a bus ride to Brixton if it was my account)

Yours ever,ever,ever so grateful

(Insert grandson of deseaced president here)

P.S Ha Ha. Stupid Muppet

xxx

Morale is, delete it, if you've had one, they'll probably keep on coming, more ludicrous than the last.
