Sky Captain

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Sky Captain

Is anyone familiar with Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow? It is the first film made without sets as every background is CGI. Due to this the costs of creating the film are reduced signifcantly. It seems quite promising for future releases. There is also an interview about the movie here if anyone is interested. Thoughts?

Seen bit and pieces of this in TV previews. Look like it might be interesting. I will wait and see though.

another DS review: Starring "sky captain and the world of tomorrow"

okay hits n miss's
Hits:looks funny, with great action and its not too highbrow with out being a crappy family film.
Miss's: storyline seems a bit take off/cheesy and i could recommend better actor's

DS's Question:
Why are they using propeller planes when there are big robots,England has got to have better then that!

DS's Rating
7.5 out of 10

whats with all the unoin jacks then?

Post Mon Sep 20, 2004 7:22 am

May I just say re Biplanes and Robots

newb even at a glance I can tell this is similar to the old steam punk sci fi

Post Mon Sep 20, 2004 10:27 am

*sigh* it's set in that inter-war 20s/30s style where planes all had propellors, and robot concepts were huge and clunky. think of Metropolis (Lang) or Laputa (Miyazaki) or even (god forbid) the Rocketeer.

It's supposed to pay homage to 1920's/30's literature and what-not. That is presumably why the plot is "cheesy"... and hackneyed. *Glares at Indy*

Can't wait to see this movie - I've been looking forward to it for over a year now. The whole 20s/30s stylisation looks fantastic. I want it to be cheesy or else the style would be wrong. I was really hoping that they'd release it in 4 x 20 minute episodes though with a cliffhanger at the end of each, like the old flash gordon and rocketeer black and white serials.

I'm praying that someone says "ROGER!" at least once in the movie too

AJ definitely!

*sigh*

All hail to Esquilax, hare-headed horse-god of hackneys!
