What can Konami do from here?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

What can Konami do from here?

For those who care, just had Silent Hill 4 delivered today. Didn't think it was due out until next friday but it turned up on my doorstep this morning from amazon.co.uk.

Anyway, i have been a HUGE fan of the Silent Hill Series and after i played the first one, at the release of SH2 and SH3 i would take a week off work so i could designate an entire week to SH time. Again, thinking the game would be out in a weeks time, i did it again.

But woe me. What has happened? SH4 has had a complete makeover! I'm not saying this is a bad thing but SH4 just does not have the feel the first 3 games had. the original SH used to have me wetting my pants, 2 wasn't scary at all and 3 was closer to the original. I've been looking forward to this since i pre-ordered back in April, as i do everytime, i'm just a little sad that Silent Hill 4 has not captured the essence of Silent Hill. IF konami do a 5th game in the series, its going to have to revert back to the original style.

*Begins lesson in Silent Hill*

Silent Hill was created by Konami on the orginal Playstation. Part of the survival horror genre, it matched and in my opinion surpassed the resident evil series. Silent Hill is based on the town of the same name. The usual bad stuff goes on, demons, satanic cults and such. Each character throught the series some way linked to the occult rituals or histroy of the past. Set in the 3rd person perspective, each protagonist must find out what the hell has happened. And hell has literally happened. Through out parts of the first 3, the world would change from silent hill to a "Alternate version, where unthinkable "creatures" lurk. The Japanese director of SH (i forset his name) created a game that could literally scare the socks off you. I still won't play the first one if i'm at home by myself. Each game i feel boasts very good graphics, but the game excels in creepy SFX. For instance, in the first game, you are in a elemantary school, with a radio that makes static when a bad guy lurks, you hear the screaming and crying of children. The music itself from Silent Hill 3 was very good. Konami really managed to put the fright in to you with their sick and twisted creations. One of the monsters in SH3 was a limbless body that was suspended in a steel cage that would make a high pitched wail when it attacked.

Silent Hill bored me to death, I guessed 3/4 of the plot and 9/10 of how they would try to scare you.

You clearly have far too much experience with such games

Games don't scare me. No game that anyone can make will possibly scare me. I've seen it and played it all. Meh, is all I have to say.
