Half-Life 2 RC sent to Vivendi !

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Half-Life 2 RC sent to Vivendi !

Gabe Newell's Post

I have personally confirmed it with Gabe and so have a few other people too. From here on I'd like to urge everybody not to contact Gabe for anymore confirmations. There's only so many times in one day you can reply "yes" to an e-mail!

UPDATE: I have now also confirmed with Gabe Newell that the Counter-Strike: Source and Half-Life: Source release candidates have also been sent to Vivendi.
- A quote from Halflife2.net

Check Here ! - "Chris_D's" post, second from the bottom !

Yes, I know, after the last bit of info on Half-Life 2 being a hoax, everone's sceptical about posts by "Gabe Newell" on HL2Fallout.com. Fortunatly, after MANY e-mails flying through cyberspace, it has been confirmed by Gabe and al the other people at Valve, it HAS been sent. Finally !

Whoop-de-freaking-do. That doesn't mean the game has gone gold. THAT will depend on whether Vivendi approves the RC or not. If not, than Valve has to send in another one, to get approved. But as always, I will believe it when I see the final product on store shelves.

I'm new to following this sort of thing. What could Vivendi Universal possibly do to delay the process? What are they reviewing? Content and rating?

A release candidate (RC) is a disc of Half-Life 2 that Valve Software (Creators of HL2) considers the final version. Vivendi, being the publisher, will check the RC for any bugs, and if it finds any major ones, they'll send the disc back to Valve, with instructions on what bugs there are. The bug checking process takes about 72 hours to do, and after that, it will take about 2 weeks to publish.

A Vivendi spokesman has been heard saying that Valve has gone through a serious de-bugging of Half-Life 2, so the first RC SHOULD be accepted (which is in itself quite rare).

meezookeewee - Yes, but as I said before, Valve went through a long testing and de-bugging test of HL2, and most bugs have been wiped out ....

@Neo,

Thanks. I had no idea that Vivendi actually had people who could do that sort of thing.
Goes to show you what I know about it.

Sorry to rtevive this, but this appears to be legit, all PC agmer magazines (at least ones that I have seen) have announced a review in their magazine of HL2, so I think could be it.

Well they are saying that Vivendi is about to release the date. The dates posted were Nov. 26 and Nov. 23. I cannot recall which countries they were though; one of them was for the US .
