This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

True, Yamamoto called the big shots but Nagumo was a rival in the Naval hierarchy. To assume command of the Combined Strike Force was a big deal as you may well imagine.

Unfortunately, Nagumo also was a cautious man, really not into looking at the strategic picture as he might have done. He saw things as finished when he got
the reports of all the destruction he caused at Pearl so he went home. And even noted that the carriers were not there.

People posit, but I don't think anyone can prove, that had Yamamoto been in command he would have hunted down the US carriers as all of the US carriers were somewhere near Hawaii and that he would have relied upon the fact that the Japanese naval air capability at the time was better trained, experienced and equipped, to try to knock out the US carriers altogether or at least very severely cripple them.

The purpose of the attack on Pearl, after all, had nothing to do with battlewagons in port and everything to do with the carriers.

While a "success" so to speak, it was a hollow victory at best as the strategic naval objective was not achieved.

@FF
There are many theories about what could have happened had PH not occured, but the point is that they are just theroys. Imo, the Japenese could NOT have even landed on the US mainland without the US putting up big big fight, but again, that's just opinion. The FACT is that we will never know what could have happened, and the argument is a waste of time.

Some questions I have...
If you throw a cat out a car window does it become kitty liter?
If it's tourist season, why can't we shoot them?
Why did kamikaze pilots wear helmets?
Why do people who know the least know it the loudest?

aaaanyway I've figured out what the anniversary is; Geoff Boycott got sacked by Yorkshire C.C., by 'eck.

didn't Geoff Boycott's daughter marry Raquel Welch's son, or was that Freddie Trueman's daughter?

(Americans, this is about cricket so you might as well pack in trying to follow this thread now )

ok so other than your mum's birthday, are we any closer to what happened on Sept 14th? can you give us a clue top a t least how far back we should be looking? there's squillions of things happened on that day, what sort of thing are we looking for?

@ww2 and kimk.... Please kindly avoid using that term for Japanese. It is offensive to me as I am of Japanese descent.

Thanks.

<Edit>

@kimk....

Even if you already do your bit. The point of doing more would be the fact that it is her birthday.

BUT... be careful about her age. Some moms dislike being reminded of their age as the years go on. So the purpose is to show some love without reminding her of her age.

Sorry Indy.
I was merely speed typing, and wanted to shorten the word.
Again, I apologize.

@kimk

I'm not trying to change you. I'm just asking that pejoratives not be used out of courtesy.
