@Loc: who in his/her sane mind would mix whisky with anything?!
Zlo, Mate, I don't know, not me in any case, although I avoid cheap stuff like Jack Daniels alltogether. It just has no valuable taste whatsoever. I think its just the youth wanting a kick. I say, if they want a kick, drink it pure. thereby not spoiling the whiskey, nor spoiling the coke, because to tell you honest, its a waste of both, same with Vodka, I drink Vodka slowly, without ice, because that way I can enjoy the taste a bit more, although there have been occassions that I just plunged half a bottle of good Stolichnaya, down the drain, my drain to be exact, I tell you, it was jolly well worth it, it tasted absolutely gorgeous!

but as it is, I don't drink that much at all, I do have a well stacked "supply-crate" (licquor cabinet) but I hardly ever use it.

Edit: and Taw, thanks for the explanation on the Darjeeling.

A noted southern drink served in Ga., is Jack Daniels and Coke. JD is a version of whisky. Never could see how people could stand the taste of any of the stuff.

Jack Daniels is Tennesse style sour mash whiskey. It is mass produced but as sour mashes go, it's quite good, other critical commentary to the contrary.

Although I prefer bonded bourbons to sour mashes, it is not such a bad "cheap" drink as others make it out to be.

yuk, can't abide JD either; meself i think you can't beat a good irish whiskey like Bushmills or Jamesons, especially if you depth-charge them into pints of Kilkenny.

We call them boiler makers. Irish whiskeys are one of my faves altho I tend like Jamies more that Bushmills.... don't know why for sure.

You're going to have to try some of Kentucky's finest bonded bourbons one of these days. They are a far cry from what you may know of them.

erm, nothing?

Oh? Well. Admittedly, in the galaxy of whiskeys, Bourbons are not seen to be much other than the legal version of moonshine but, in fact, they are very good. I imagine that they aren't sold very widely in the UK, sort of against interest.

I'll post up some labels for you to try tomorrow, I need my beauty sleep and am too tired to think that hard right now.

Good grief. Don't you ever sleep?
