Mobile Radeon 9700 versus Fx 5700 Go

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Mobile Radeon 9700 versus Fx 5700 Go

Does anyone know which one is more powerful, or have a preference?

If you're using Linux (like you should be! ) then the 5700 is the way to go. ATI's linux drivers put your performance levels waaaaay down, but nVidia's drivers give you pretty decent frame rates.

Looks like there are two flavors of the 5700, Performance and Desktop Replacement.
You want the DR as it has almost double the core clockspeed of the Performance variant.

They seem to be very close but the ATI still seems to have the edge.

I have an ATI mobility Radeon 9700 with 128MB in my laptop.
cant complain. stuff runs smooth, even on high detail (zero problems with performance on Doom3 on high detail @1024*768).

i have read a few reports about the compaisons. for me it didnt matter which one of the 2 (ati or nvidia) is in my new notebook, i just set myself the requirement that it has to be fater than my desktop PC (that has an ati rad 9500 with 128M.

-> in the end the performance differences arent big. it depends on the game, drivers, ...

one nice thing bout the ati cards is that option to let them run on reduced performance when you are running on batteries. a bit less framerate, but noticeably less drain on batts.
