Judgment Day (not Armageddon)

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Starcraft for the PC(there was a version of it for the N64)
+Great storyline
+amazing online play
+good scenario editor
+good for someone on a low budget, only about 10$ for the expansion and the normal game
+a nice number of units(no race is purely dominant)
-out-dated graphics
Overall score 9.5/10

Empire Earth PC
+great for RTS buffs
+huge selection of units
+able to make your own civilization
+goes through time periods(from Prehistoric age to the Nano age)
+doesn't take up much memory
+4 good campaigns that hit all of the available time periods, Ancient Greeks, Mid-evil England, WW2's Germany(yes that's right this time you're defending the beaches), and futuristic Russia.
+large pop cap, allowing for huge armies
-might be a little too hard for novice RTS fans
Overall 10/10

this game just crossed my mind.
Van Helsing

+ OK graphics
+ Follows movie almost exactly
+ You can go into the Netherworld and do various challenges to unlock cheats!
+ Large number of cheats, (Van Helsing changes colors, no textures, stuff like that.)

- Just not challenging enough
- Not enough variety of enemies
- Enemies re spawn each time you enter the room
- Camera issues
- Receptive game play( run, hack and slash, occasional boss battles.)

overall score: 7.5/10

Dragon Ball Z: Bodaki 2/ PS2, Xbox, Gamecube/Fighting

+ World tournament
+ Insane number of characters at end of game
+ Graphics are very good (in a cartons way)

- Extremely cheap AI
- Game play gets a little repetitive
- No Xbox Live! No Playstation On line, or Gamecube Connected
- Short story mode( I beat it three times in one day.)
- Only a 1 on 1 fighting mode(no team battles.)

overall score: 6.0/10

Fraid i haven't played many games to be honest - BUT:

X2 The Threat

+ Massive open ended universe
+ Don't have to stick to storyline
+ Dynamic economies
+ Awesome ships
+ Upgrades galore
+ Commodities markets are all interwined
+ Player ownable stations includnig revenue
+ Solid AI - allows for multiple ships under command to follow "automated" process - including buying goods for best value over several sectors, selling for best values, collecting goods, tradeing for profit with no interference by player
+ Replayability/signed scripts to modify aspects of game is great!! Better than FL mods!
+ Takes a long time to fully appreciate how good a game it is
+ AI may bale out of their ships and leave them to you if your whoopin their ass!

- Storyline cutscenes feature BAD voice acting
- Storyline cutscenes can be VERY choppy on low-med graphics cards
- graphics are still very resource draining
- sometimes AI can be just too dumb (can crash some ships)
- Story characters models SUCK! (in comparison to FL!)
- Takes time to learn to control ship well enough to enjoy the fight
- Interface is shortcut keys only - no point and click
- Storyline is relatively un-interesting - and as a result i haven't finished it - i have gone off and started to take over the place
- It takes days to get anywhere at all!

Overall - this game is the second game after Freelancer, that has taken all my waking moments. Its fantastic - but it takes a good few days to a week to actually get into it. Once you do, and get to grips with controls, shortcut kesy and more, its incredible. However, it could do with a "time multiplyer" sometimes, as you could wait for the money to come in from factories. Sitting in the dock on "SETA" (time drive thing - speeds up game by 10 times) can work - but you cannot watch things occur during this!

The most annoying thing is the players who try to compare both FL and X2. You cannot - they have the fact that they are space sims in common..........and that is it!!! Anyone trying to draw parallels after that is a retarded desperate burrito! Once you forget about FL controls, and spend time developing your character, it pays off and the game becomes all time consuming - and awesome. Highly recommended - but the poor voices in the storyline - and choppy scenes lowers the score!

9/10

I have a long list of things - because i think "Good graphics, great gameplay" doesn't say enough - and too many of you are just TOO light on marking them!!
This thread rocks though - cause i find out lots of info on games I may eventually try out!

iam suprised no one put freelancer, but ya stbc was RUSHED...rushed really bad, playing online is an bad idea since everyone used the most powerfull ship and or cheats or hacks yer dang comp. personly i give freelancer 9 outa 10, plot is good but on the missions there could be more and also the same with the ships. lest on the unmoded version. also on stbc i rate it an 6 since there isnt many missions and ships you can fly in the plot, also the online playing is way belowe what id like...

Diablo 2:
Platform: PC
Genre: RPG

+ Great variety
+ Awesome storyline
+ Massive array of weapons and skills
+ magic is everywhere
+Free online play (But then again, so does everyone else)

-Takes ages to get an impressive character
-outdated graphics
-heaviliy patched
-Closed players have a reputation for being arrogant about thier chars

Overall 7-9/10

@Warrior17

Whats the point in doing a review of Freelancer on a Freelancer fan site. The ONE thing we should all have in common is that we played, and enjoyed, the game. Everyone here has already owned/played it - so why bother rating it - we all have formed our own opinions about it already!

I think thats why no-one bothered rating it tbh!

Either that, or if a person gave a score to FL that was too low, they'd get flamed by everybody else .

lol, chips. all i was saying is i was suprised no one put it up. also i do agree with you its an wast of time and engery puting up the rateings. but heck it and stbc is basicly all i play now days next to tribes and personaly with tribes i think its so worthless it didnt desever to be rated, no offince to anyone who thinks less.

Call of Duty

Pluses:
+Challenging gameplay
+Decent Voice-overs(Jason Statham, Giovanni Ribisi)
+Accurate Weapons
+AI(teammates, not enemy)
+Multiple Campaigns(Russian, American, British)
+Memorable missions(capturing bridge and holding it, for example-British Campaign)
+Fantastic Sound
+Very Immersive

Negatives:
-Quake III engine is definitely showing its age
-Suspect enemy AI

Overall: 9.7/10
This is one of the best games, I have EVER played. And one of the best first-person shooters ever.

Earth 2150
+Innovative customizable units(you get to build the blueprints for your units from existing technology)
+fairly good graphics
+night and day lighting
-bland storyline(the whole escape from Earth deal)

Good if you like fooling around with things(like me) but not much to see here 7/10

Age of Empires 2: The Age of Kings
+great campaigns(who wouldn't wnat to follow in the footsteps of Joan of Arc or Ghengis Khan).
+large selections units
+nice scenario editor, I use it as a castle building program.
+200 pop. cap allowing for some large battles
+historically acurate(even has a part added where you look up the history of the races from those times, the weapons they used ,etc.
-bad graphics
Some great RTS gameplay here and a bit of learning too 9/10

Age of Empires2: Conquerors
+Good amount of new units added along with races
+3 new campaigns and smaller single scenarios(Hastings, stuff like that)
+new music and terrain
-bad graphics
overall it's pretty good for an expansion 8/10

Halo: Combat Evolved for PC (Was initially released for X-box)
First Person Shooter

+ Good Graphics
+ Awesome Soundtrack
+ Computer controlled allies that don't suck (and with delightfull comentary)
+ Good storyline/gameplay
+ Diffaculty levels, with a decent tutorial in the beginning

- Confusing levels that had to put arrows on the ground to help you out
- No way to have two players play on the same machine (hardware issues)

Overall, a 9.5 on a scale from one to awesome

I am Nobody; Nobody is Perfect; Therefore, I am Perfect

I have to disagree with the previous poster:

Halo for PC

Pros: Decent graphics, compelling story, great music, memorable battles

Cons: Human character models are a bit mediocre, particularly during cutscenes, HORRIBLY optimized (Far Cry runs better for gods sake), no antialiasing, gameplay is too run and gun, or average, its a short game, all too convenient rock barriers limit the outdoor environments, released too late, and most of all WAY OVERHYPED!!!

Overall: 7.5 (GOOD)

Oh yeah and Microsoft is screwing us over on Halo2, just thought I would through that in.
