dude, i was watching korea vs korea yesterday for badminton.. it had 'badminton doubles men gold medal' as game title iirc.

the winner won first 2 games so no tie breaker. i think the score was 15:6 give take 2.

Kinda like when the Rangers faceoff against the Islanders in NHL Hockey...no fun at all.

Thats not excaitly the samething. The Canadiens and the Nordiques were from Montreal and Quebec City, respectivaly. It was the Battle of Quebec.

Just like the Leafs and the Senators are from Toronto and Ottawa and when they play, it's the Battle of Onterio.

But I have no idea where the Rangers and Islanders are from, only place I can guess is NYC, so, it's not nearly as fun.

Badmiton and Tabletennis are one of my fav sports. But I think it's stupid. Yesterday, we (germany) won Gold, Silver and Bronze in one final (some bike race)...

Why is it stupid? There are pleanty of athletes out there who wnat to go for the medals. Just because someone else from your country beat you to the application shouldn't mean you shouldn't get to play. Now, does it give an unfair advantage to the richer nations, yes, but that advantage will always be inherent to the games. Might as well let all those who deserve to compete a chance to do so. --- VH16

They tried to hype the Rangers vs. Islanders series in the battle for the Big Apple. It didn't really amount to that except when both teams were contending for first place. Then, when the Devis setup across the Hudson, it pretty much segmented the hockey crowd into North Jersey/Jersey nuts, NYC nuts and Long Island fans.

As it turns out, demographically, NHL is very big in the NYC tri-state region and it is big enough to support 3 teams. A battle for New York (state) would require a three way series by adding Buffalo, as you know.

The funny thing is that NHL games still don't do well on general TV. But the cable following is very profitable, it seems.

For any indoor lacrosse fans, an NLL tourtement for the state would be even worse since NYC, Albany, Rochester, and Buffalo all have teams. You could have a mini-tourtement. --- VH16

I love watching badminton almost as much as I enjoy playing it...I'm looking forward to watching the re-run of the match.

As for the olympics themselves, I've sat back and listened to you all slating them over the past week - hinting at the politics behind it all and generally asking why anyone gives a c***. Well...I give a crap. I love the olympic games, I have done since I was a kid. I watch it all avidly when the time comes around again. Yes I know there's politics behind the whole thing, and yes I know that the whole "which country got the most medals" thing is a complete farce. But to me the olympics is all about personal achievement. Its about running harder, jumping higher and throwing further than you have ever done before, to achieve the highest accolade that your profession can bring.

This whole thing with Paula Radcliffe dropping out of the marathon yesterday illustrates my point perfectly. She's been slated by the media today for "Letting the country down"...thats just ridiculous, does anyone actually believe that those tears by the side of the road were because she thought she'd let her country down?? Not a chance. She was bawling her eyes out because she felt that she'd let herself down. She drove herself into the ground. She pushed herself harder than she'd ever done before, and when she saw the runner comfortably overtake her to slip into bronze position - she knew that she couldn't push her body any further than she had done already. The poor girl realised in that instance that no matter how hard she tried, her dream of an olympic medal had come to an end. B*ll*cks to country pride. The olympics is a personal thing.

Put quite simply, the olympics is the greatest collection of sportsmen and women pushing themselves as hard as humanly possible to try to acheive the ultimate accolade in their profession. The inter-country politics was inevitable....and I doubt that any single athlete present at the games gives a flying ****.

Oh but saying that, I do have to say one thing to our US brethren.....basketball....lithuania....ROFL!!!

We all knew that it was bound to happen.... at least here in my neck of the woods. The NBA may be the be all and end all of riches and fame in the world of basketball but also is not the same game as played in the Olympics or elsewhere.

How these guys were going to get themselves together as a team and play well under those new rules in, I think it was three weeks, was beyond most of us. And they are not the creme de la creme anyway.

BUT.... I still think that it is legitimate to say that they lost to a better team.

As for badminton.... I never knew how much of a work out it would be until I was forced to learn to play it in order to satisfy my College curricula and graduate.
