See my drawings!

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

See my drawings!

I've been really bored lately so I decided to try my hand at drawing!

Here's some of my pics, tell me what you think (critisism is alright with me )

These two are kinda anime/cartooney conversions of two senior pictures I have. I choose 'em cause I liked the poses. I apologize for their crappiness :p

Picture 1

Picture 2

As I stated before, any critiqueing is good. I already know i'm not too good with hands and faces yet.

could we get an art thread? saves everyone who does a bit of art, be it digital or regular art from cluttering the forum.

@Saiyan
That's a nice picture, I could never really flowers. Haha, gimme a box to draw...maybe a house.

My roommate pointed out to me a day ago that maybe the reason that the faces look funny is cause the rest of people look a little too "real." So the anime-like face doesn't really fit. Haha, he said the hands look goofy, no explaination

Maybe some shadowing on the faces would work, like cheekbones and noses. I dunno.

Sorry to disapoint, but it seems the joke was lost at some point. Alas that wasn't my work, it was done by some guy called Van Gough (maybe you've heard of him ) but I'm flattered none the less.

The second pic is good, the first one passes as ok...
Yup, definitely hands and faces... Try doing one-stroke lines, simpler contours and not complete faces. Try it out so that you can see what 'defines' a face, just draw vague forms until you notice that they resemble a persons facial expresson, then draw on from there... (if you understand what I'm babbling about, I'll buy you a truckload of ice cream )
As for the hands... I dunno, you need 'sharper' lines, rougher transitions.
Overall, you will do just fine, you'll get better in time, you just need more practice.

Careful what you wish... You just might get it.

I agree with wiz - I think you've got the bodies and poses absolutely spot on, but the faces let them down a bit. Nicely drawn matee, you've got a good eye.

@Saiyan-
Acutually when I clicked on the link the address I did see something like "Van Gough" but I gave you the benefit of the doubt. Maybe I thought you REALLY liked tracing...

@everyone else-
Thanks for the advice(and compliments). I'm trying to take make good use the suggestions. When I get done with the next one, I'll post it somewhere so hopefully you can see improvement

@Fd

Your drawings look kind of biblical. Can't put my finger on it but definitely seems like architecture that may have been in the middle east way back when.

The first one is, the second is more castle type. Ruler and pencil is my method of drawing. I get back into it from time to time. It's very relaxing. The vilage took me 3 days to do. Link3
