If you thought that you were working hard before...

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

If you thought that you were working hard before...

Well if you think that I'm paranoid now, how paranoid do you think I'd would be if this research is ever acted upon and tested on humans? How hard would it be to slip some drugs into workplace water coolers, and what-not in order to get some more work out of the average employee? *Shakes head* It is research like this that worries me.

It was only a matter of time, Esq. I see it as a more sophisticated version of trials with rats (you know, when they had to push a lever to have pleasure centers activated in their brain [irc, they all died of exhaustion). It pays companies to have workaholics - higher production speed, etc. plus you can always replace them when they 'burn out'. People need stimulation if you want them to work more efficiently. The stimulation used to be psychiological, financial, social, etc. Now they want to make it neurological (or whatever). I just hope I don't live till this becomes common practice. And I believe it will - nothing can stop ppl from doing things that pay off.

Maybe zlo, but it's the exploitation of the working man that irritates me. Oh well, I'm just glad that I drink my own water brought from home!

I think you have it all wrong. Think of the advantages this would give Companies. The could reduce overhead (your vacation and time off), Cut cost (your medical benefits), and lower their operations cost (your salary).
Then they would be more appealing to investers (note to self: slip drug into drinks at shareholders meeting).
On top of all that they could get rid of that Employee of the month program.

That's great for the companies, but what's the benefit for the employees? Psychotropic side-effects?

Well, let me play devil's advocate here for a minute. Now, why is increased productivity a bad thing? So long as the workers are informed (which they would have to be under requirement of law) they're making a choice to drink the stuff, much like you would drink coffee, and would get a similar result. The employees are hydrated and getting more work done, which means they take less work home and have more time to spend with their families. Also, the company becomes more productive, which means more profits, more benefits, and higher salaries. Which means, in short, we all win. Put a disclaimer on the jug (NOTE - This water contains stimulants designed to help you work to your fullest potential) and watch productivity go up. --- VH16

Would anyone actually agree to being "doped up" at work? What about side-effects? There would have to be some, and they could be serious. Also, you refer to the law. Come on, the law can be bent easily. All they have to do is throw a clause in the contract that the workers sign (and never read), and there you go. Ah well, hopefully nothing will come of it.

Being doped at work is about the only way I can make it through the day now. If it wasn't for Caffeine and Nicotine people would die.

Hmm... even if it were all done perfectly legally, what about those who would refuse to take the stuff? I don't think they would get the same salary as those who do. Hence the pressure. Just one case might result in an avalanche: one employee will be followed by others, same goes for companies (competition and stuff), and there you go...
