Who here....

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Who here....

Hates the Valve automated updater program 'steam'?

I had to get it this morning because my HL instillation was 'out of date' and there was no stand-alone .EXEs to update it (what is the version now, mine was 1.1.1.0), and not only did it say my AUTHENTIC HL CD-Key was a copied version, i had to go through 20-30 Keys from my HL key generator before finally using my CS key on it, now im waiting for it to update CS to 1.0.0.6 or whatever it is so i can play Counterstrike
/me checks update time
in 23 minutes...

anyone else got some good arguments?
note-no spamming or flaming, just educated discussion

If I'm not mistaken, you have to pay for Steam, right? If that's the case, then I won't be using it.

No, you don't have to pay to use Steam, only if you want to download HL2 and it's (direct) expansions.

What I hate about steam, is it's auto-update facility. I just can't afford to spend 100mb a day so I can keep it up to date. Therefore I block it with my firewall, but it makes the internet laggy until it shows the "Steam cannot connect to server error".....
