Display problems

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Display problems

specifically with Freelancer. Some Rear Admiral told me to post it here.

Specifically, I get no textures at all. They are still there in the main menu, as well as the Freeport 7 blowing up part, but as soon as the Liberty cutscene loads, all the textures are gone. So it looks like a big brown blur.

I've installed and played the game before without problems, but I don't know what happened this time. I've reinstalled twice already.

Help appreciated.

PS
I have the latest drivers, my graphics card is GeForce2 MX, I have tried all the display settings in game, no luck. I have tried lowering hardware acceleration, accelerated textures etc. etc. still no luck.

Sooooo...

HELP!!!!!

Hopefully, this link works for someone

Two things: Fog table emulation and gamma correction.
1. Gamma correction. Enter options in Freelancer and under video options there is a gamma correction slider. Usualy it's set to 0.30, try increasing it slowly, at about 0.4 the picture should return to normal
2. Fog table emulation. This is an old characteristic of the GF2 cards, it may be automatically enabled in the newest drivers (ForceWare), but try searching for it under display properties, advanced settings -> performance & quality settings.

Careful what you wish... You just might get it.

okay, more info:

Planetary scenes now work, but only if detail levels are less than half. I've moved all the sliders to the left, then reactivated all the checkboxes, and no problems. It just seems like the textures disappear after the general detail level increases over half.

No problems in space, all ok except for when in dust clouds, then all textures disappear again.

hope this helps.

Sounds like the latest nVidia drivers pack a little too much punch for GeForce 2 chips.
