Budget Graphics


Hi guys.
I bet you saw the title and thought "Damn, does Blaze want another card now?!", well, you'd be right. My new computer is a PCI Express so I need a good, £140 card.
The main contender is the Radeon X600XT, but I love the Nvidia drives alot and since I'm from the same state as them, I've got patriotic reason. So is Nvidia making a PCI Express card soon?

BTW: Enlighten me please. Give me 3D Mark result and stuff to back up your extreme love for ATi cards - I'm not going so easily as last time.

The 6800 Ultra comes in both flavors. AGP and PCI Express. These are all top of the line cards. PCI Express is still fairly new and not going to be mainstream for a while. Most PCs eligible for upgrading will remain mobo'd with AGP or less so you're looking to do a topline buy for the rest of this year at least.

Watch the street prices of the ATI 9800 XT and the GeForce 5950 Ultra. As they drop, the more prevalent PCI Express will have become and the more likely that lesser varieties of the X800 XT and the 6800 Ultra will be available.

<Edit>

The 6800 Ultra is a power hog. Many reviews recommend that you have at least a 400w PSU to power it.

I'm here Blaze, but I can't bothered going over graphics cards comparisons AGAIN. You and I have discussed this before, on more than one occasion. This one's yours Ed .
