some very weird internet problems

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

some very weird internet problems

www.hotmail.com loads up a blank screen for me, no matter what i do. as for yahoo, i can't compose and new mails.

i'm totally stumped. i've also had a lil problem with www.wholenote.com but its ok now. thanks to rec. there's some little problems elsewhere too... just can't remember any atm.

anyone got any clues as to why this is happening? am i alone? or is it getting other ppl too ?

Grom, he posted here. Operamail is sluggish too. May just be a lot of ussage.

this could be Z's fault, maybe he pursuaded MS and Yahoo to sign over their bandwidth

Empty your Temporary Internet Files and Cookies from "Internet Options", and try again. Alternatively, try out Mozilla Firefox.

It could be a DNS or a proxy issue. Is this at home or at work, and what type of connection do you have?

ADSL broadband, at 128 kpbs.. not so much of a broadband, i know.. but thats the m'sian broadband for you. i'm running ie.

so far, like in all of my surfing history this sorta thing has never happened. i'm thinking its got something to do with w32.spybot.worm that norton keeps picking up at startup (i have to disable it to use my comp properly) and claims it is incapable of doing anything.

Ya think??

Suggestion...take care of that problem...don't just ignore it....computering 101 there.

i've tried. seems the worm, i duno how, recognises its attempts against its health or something. search at norton homepage for the virus turns up a blank page, like one i get when trying to load windows.

and i have cleared temp and cookies and stuff. whats more.. the whole internet is slowing down for me. and its at home. i've also tried avg, its not turning up anything helpful. the only hit i get is < worm/spybot > x3 i click on any of the three.. it gives me a description... says its spread by p2p... doesn't say how i'm gonna get rid of it.

i've run avg and norton multiple times now. avg doesn't pick up this spybot.worm but norton does. norton says it can't do jack about it.

and the problem with hotmail seems intermitten. my sis says she managed to get on it after re-connecting to the internet at each attempt. IP stays the same though. so i'm baffled as to why reconnected would have anything to do with this this random success.

Try running your AV in safe mode. Most programs won't load then and it should be easyer to remove. You can do a search in the registery as well.

kimk, have you updated your virus definitions?

Post Tue Jul 13, 2004 8:57 am

It is a Kazaa kontaminant Mostly from 2003

Did you make a boot-up emergency floppy with NAV on it? If you did and if your BIOS is set so that the PC looks to boot from floppy before looking at the HDD, you should boot up to the floppy and then viruscan from the floppy.

If not, change your BIOS to look to boot first from floppy and then proceed.

Being that the virus likely is an oldie from 2003 and assuming your NAV is a more current (2004 edition) install, you won't need to worry too much about having the correct AV data update in the boot up floppy.

BE SURE TO LOCK YOUR FLOPPY so that it cannot be written to before you proceed.
