SLI is back!

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

SLI is back!

I was just reading around, and SLI is back! A while ago, I told you about Alienware and that they were planning to include the ability to have two graphics cards working as one with their PCs, but now nV have decided to even the playing field and institute SLI with their 6800 series cards. Ah, SLI! I remember the good old days of the Voodoo2... that was the last we heard of SLI. Ah well. Oh, I imgaine that this post makes no sense to most of you so, instead of explaining it to you as I always do (and few people appreciate *sniff*), here is a link for y'all. There are many drawbacks to using SLI with nV cards, but the performance benefits would be astronomical. Still, even I'm not crazy enough to pay $1,500 AUD for two top-of-the-line cards!

This will cost more then just two cards , you will need a double pci-e board that supprts two cards , new ram , new cpu , youll end up spendinga fortune on it and all because you want to play games a little faster.

You'l need a bigger case to help get rid of even more heat now. One is enough for me.

well it seems really cool, but i prefer more moniters thou. and games that use too as well.

So Alienware has its version which dispenses with any specialized GPUs and doesn't even require a matched pair, you can use an X800 paired up with a 6800
or you can go with nVidia's purpose built twinnable GPU line of cards.

As they said in Satuday Night Live: Quienes es mas macho?

All true, but imagine the processing power... you would even be able to run games using the Unreal 3 engine (or so I imagine, technology permitting). Still, did you see the picture in the article? The linked Nv cards are so close together that I would be really worried about heat issues; they practically touch each other. Still, I would be just as concerned about the power consumption *shakes head*, it's obscene.
