this is bizzare

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

i have spyhunter on my computer, thanks to taw for that, downloaded ad aware to test it out, first thing it does is flag spyhunter and kills it. how can a spyware remover be spyware? *confused*

Post Tue Jun 08, 2004 9:23 am

adaware did the same thing to spybot search and destroy on my sys i don't know why it's very confusing

Post Tue Jun 08, 2004 9:35 am

why didn't you just leave it alone? stop fiddling! if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

..everyone suffers in silence with burdens, the man who drives minicabs down in Old Compton; the Asian man, with his love-hate affair with this racist lying town..

adaware picked stuff up the other 2 didnt, and besides i can always re-install spyhunter

Post Tue Jun 08, 2004 11:41 am

ya, this is the reason why i dont really deal with spy/adware. dont really wanna mess up my hard drive anymore then i already have... couldnt it be confuseing the stuff because it was downloaded from the net? assuming that is how you got it. just wondering

Spybot keeps a quarantined log of everything that it detects. It actually gives you a warning when you boot it up if you have adaware installed, that adaware might not like some of the stuff in the spybot folder

Post Tue Jun 08, 2004 5:10 pm

why would you wanna keep quarintines of that crap anyway? down the drain it goes for me

Post Tue Jun 08, 2004 6:02 pm

I always clean spysweepers quarantined log. Nothing is left to be reread or bug me again.

Maybe the heuristics are playing up. Still, if you had a good firewall, didn't download and install rubbish, and used a decent browser *spits on IE*, then you wouldn't need a spyware scanner .

Spyhunter and adaware will do that to each other, each one will pick out the other and delete it. Your best bet is to pick one and to stick with it.
I personally prefer adaware but spyhunter has its advantages also.

they both pick up different things

Try having S S+D, The Cleaner AND Adaware

Post Fri Jun 11, 2004 6:12 am

I have Spybot S&D AND I have Adaware and they co-exist quite happily. They do spot each other but, in the installation process, all you have to do is to tell it to leave the other app alone.

i did tell it to leave the other one alone but it deleted it anyway, piece of junk!
