I hate to be nerdy about this. But I believe this is a perfect example of what are known as "mammatus" cloud formations. They are strong cumulonimbus clouds that have appendages protruding from the base of the cloud, they are called "mammatus" because funnily enough, they look like the mammary glands of mammals. Here's an example...



look it up if ya don't believe me!!

@Kimk - you should send your photo to a couple of meteorology websites, thats a cracking photo you've got there...

it looks faker than hell but i myself have seen clouds like this (i saw them during a tornado warning a couple years back...luckily it was a funnel that eventually went away and did not touch down) its the wierdest thing if you actually see them in person
but there are some things i want to look at:

what is that?
and:

why isnt that part black? im assuming its white tape.......

Of course I read it Grom, but the guys around here would rather spout conspiracy theories (ie. NASA doctoring meteorological photos), that=n believe you .

uhh...anyone else think that those clouds look like a bunch of old,fat, white folks rear ends???
