The Witcher

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

The Witcher

There is an interesting game currently in development that features a highly modified version of the NWN engine. The game is called "The Witcher", and the site is here. It looks quite promising, but there does not seem to be a lot of variety in terms of chracter creation, etc. Still, the graphics look nice, and the plot is supposed to be quite detailed.

Edit: I saw that post Taw. I wish you would stop doing that!

The pics have a hint of morrowind to them. Not bad looking.

Final - Indeed, it is a good-looking game, but I wonder how well it will run, especially considering the problems ATI cards have had with NWN.

I'm watching you Palpatine (see Taw)! You and your mind games *shakes head* .

I have my doubts on just how interesting it'll be. I think it's just going to be one of those typical run-around-and-kill-stuff games with plot added in for flavour.

Isn't a game with a good plot where you run around and kill things every gamer's dream, Fishy? *Cough* Half-Life!

I'm trying to gather, is this game a add-on to NWN? I have that program, but was not overly happy with the game play that I had did with it before dleting it. Also, the article said it was going with a differnt engine, so wouldn't that mean it would be stand alone?

It's not an expansion. It's a seperate game using a heavily modified version of the same engine used in NWN. The offical "expansions" for NWN that are available for download are called "Witch's Wake", and are being made by Bioware. I'd ask you why you don't like NWN Final, but then we'd start going OT .

Game play.

I would however, if this is standalone, be willing to give it a try when it comes out.

It seems to be a combination of DS and NWN. They were both popular games, so maybe that fusion was deliberate.

Post Sun Jun 06, 2004 5:16 pm

so what's DS?

Post Sun Jun 06, 2004 5:19 pm

"DS" is the collquial name for MS's game "Dungeon Siege". They are currently working on a sequel to if anybody wants to know.

How do you know the plot's going to be good? Even if it was, I'd rather I was able to do a little more than mindlessly run around and kill stuff.

I agree with you, and I never said that the plot would be good, I simply stated that the plot is supposed to be good, and that a good plot combined with liberal dashes of monster-killing makes for a popular game (or rather it has in the past). One of the reasons I am skeptical regarding the plot is because the only source that I have regarding the plotline of the software in question is the game's homepage .
