Spain, Just out of curriosity

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Spain, Just out of curriosity

Just out of curriosity, anybody know what's happening in Spain now? I know the socialists took power recently, but have they done anything aside from pull out of Iraq? --- VH16

@ff

There were these French fur trappers you see. They were wandering around in the Northern Plains without sight of anyone for ... let's just say a ver VERY long time.

They noticec out in the western horizon, some bumps which, as they kept approaching grew larger and which sort of kind of took on a certain rounded quasi conical configuration that reminded them of something else. And since they were BIG, they named the mountain range the Grand(s) Tetons. ---- True story.

Fast forward to American explorers who didn't speak a lick of French who ask around for what those same mountains are called and they are told the "Grand Tetons." Not knowing any better, one supposes, the name stuck. .... My surmise ... as they are still called that today. Presumably to the great amusement of French speakers everywhere.

Yosemite national park, El Capitan Find a friend to backpack travel to a lot of places and hike around. My brother use to do it for a month at a time.

Yeah, the Grand Teton story is almost as amusing as the virgin islands. When colombus landed there on one of his voyages, he thought the curvature of the island resembled a pregnant woman lying down. Naturally, he associates a pregnant woman with virginity (the virgin mary) and the name sticks. Thanks for the info, I was just currious. --- VH16
