My computer is dead!

I'm usually not a swearing man but, sh*t, f*ck, cr*p! I hate Far Cry! I got the stupid cover disc from a mag with a far cry demo. Played it but when I exited it crashed, corrupted my hard drive, and made it impossible to start up! I kept on getting a UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME error even on safe and DOS mode. The fact is that I had to reinstall windows xp, but this involved wiping the hard drive with my 100's of hours of modding work. With no other choice, I've wiped it and I will never forgive my self for not backing up my work onto my flash disk.

Thank you. Sorry but I must be tired because I forgot to put a 'not' in the post.

Here are a few more mods that will never be recovered:
5 Big FS2 mods - were never released to the net (because I was just a n00b then)
1 RA2 mod - just for fun but was fairly big.

I'm so depressed, I really hate that computer. I'm not sure whether I should use it as a permiment FL server or just scrap it.

the irony is Blaze that you prob didnt need to reformat to reinstall XP, you could ahve used ASR or Recovery Console or done a Repair over-install. Or got another hdd, used that as the master and slaved your old hdd with all your stuff on to that, then just copied over. Why didn't you ask here first? we'd have helped you out. Well i would, Esq would just have been rubbish but he is only learning

Sorry to hear that, it's good cause to partitiion your disk thoough. Even if your OS does go belly up, there's no need to wipe all that hard work with a costly re-install. Just dump it straight over the fonk installation and all your porno goodies are stored safely from harm on a seperate partition.

blaze the full game for far cry is 3 gig, the demo is rather large as well

Sorry to hear about the HDD, another reason on top of my 300+ why i hate computers, yet computers are my world, anybody feel the irony?

at least now i know not to install a far cry demo...

I am soo sorry for your tragic loss....but hopefull you saw the undeniable imporatance of CD backups of important files....i make new backups weekly on CD-RW's....but i salute your fallen comerade and hope the new pc fills the void left behine....

@Taw: I tried to repair it using the windows installer but it didn't work so I didn't have any other option. Soory about not asking you guys first but I don't really have much access to the internet at home until broadband in 2 months.
