A good topic

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

What's the criteria for such an argument?

Does it have to be serious?

Post Fri May 21, 2004 12:08 pm

@ sirS I'm not really sure...
@Indy well let me put it this way, I have to try to convince them of a point, but it can be funny as well i guess

Well,

What do you believe in? What hot issue related buttons do you have? I.e., pollution, cruelty to animals, the decline of tv cartoon quality, the lack of appreciation of the value of computer games?

To really capture attention, you need a very controversial topic. Good ones are things like, "Religion is obsolete and impeding to human development" or "Animal rights activists are whiny hooligans with no sense of neccesity". Not that I agree with the latter bien sur, but that what you should aim for.

Then again, if you're just trying to persuade people, go for popular opinion and you'll have an easy ride. Try "English lessons serve no useful purpose in the Real World™ and should be scrapped". Everyone here will know what I mean one way or another .

Hmm, come to think of it, you're better off not listening to me.

Who made a better Darren, was it Dick Sergernt or Dick York?

Seriously though, what kinda topics you looking for.

"On this ship you are to refer to me as Idiot, not you Captain. I mean... you know what I mean."

Anything that I can get a nice argument on like lets say : Computers are bad for your healt or anything I can give a good argument bout

Post Fri May 21, 2004 12:33 pm

Surely you can give a good argument on "English lessons serve no useful purpose in the Real World™ and should be scrapped". Or is that still too controversial? Hey, I did it in English and got and A.

If you still don't like it, try something like "The music industry brought illegal file-sharing and piracy upon itself by overpricing music"

@sw, why not just use something from Hamlet? Such as Hamlet is an unremorseful villain and anti-hero while Claudius is a tragic hero who had at one time committed villainy but feels remorseful.

How about the classics- Death Penalty Yes or no (yes), Abortion yes or no (yes), Should the Human Rights Declaration be cut down to about 15 bullet points and the words "Unless they deserve it" put on the end of every sentence (yes), should the people who invented Big Brother be shot (hell yes) and is the Bush administration going to destroy the world(yes).

EDIT- I was simply telling SW () sone topics and what my opinions are on them. Some especially the first two would make very good debates, as would the question of should guns be available in shops(no).
