Hurry down to your local shops today...

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Hurry down to your local shops today...

And you could buy this!
Your very own Automower. Simply put the wires around the area you want mowed and it'll, er... mow!
What really interests me though is that it automatically recharges itself, by returning to its charger, something I have never seen before (well not in a lawnmower anyway ).

"Automower" pah!

I still use my ancient 1978 Qualcast Concorde - it's a lot less bovva than a hovva....

..you shut your mouth, how can you say, I go about things the wrong way..

Meh. I heard about this in 2002. Old news.

Post Fri May 21, 2004 1:29 pm

It goes back WAY further than 2002 - as it was featured on Tomorrows World back in the earily 90's if i remember rightly. Probs cause its now available to the masses is all

My first thought is "what a waste of energy/electricity" - although it does say its cheap to run. No emissions - only true if run off of emission free power (wind turbines, hydro or solar!)

If it was solar powered, then that would be fine, otherwise - pah - what a waste. Minimum effort for life huh? Mowing is a good form of excercise for some people

@Chips, I remember the old version of these, that had a height sensor ad would do right turns to keep moving forward as it cut. Hilarius then and now. You could put a kid out of his summer job with one.

CR*P. I was going to mow lawns this summer.

Hmmm. I've been thinking of talking the wife into getting a Roomba. But Roomba doesn't return itself to a recharging cradle.

Yeah I looked into one of those for my yard, which is quite large. Only problem is that is will not work on anything greater than a 15 degree hill, so unless your yard is almost completely flat it won't work. Well, ok, maybe it was just the one I looked into, but it makes sense if you think about it...

Peh, It doesn't even have a pull start. How am I supposed to throw my shoulder out with this poxy piece of garbage.

Actually I just watched the flash preview of how the thing works (old technology BTW) and it is very un economical. You could run it for 30 hours and it will go over one piece of lawn 20 times but completely miss a spot on the other end of the house.

This almost makes me wish I had a yard to mow. I miss the smell of freshly mown grass, in the evening. The bad part of living in an apartment.

Post Fri May 21, 2004 5:55 pm

i want one! then i can get paid weekly without mowing the lawn

Post Fri May 21, 2004 6:01 pm

Now, thats a thought, Wolfy. Borrow the money to buy one, then set up lawn cuttings in the neighborhood, take a chair, sit back, and let it do the cutting for you with out braking a sweat. End of the summer, you make enough to pay for it and a little extra. The second suimmer, you clean up. Rich in no time at all.
