Disneyland, California, prepare for our school!

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Disneyland, California, prepare for our school!

Early Tuesday morning I shall be off, with the rest of (most of) my school's senior band classs and choir, to California. I'll come back late on the 24th, so you'll probably hear from me next Wednesday.
Our band has two performances. One is in the California Adventure park ,Hollywood Backlot Stage, at 11:30 am, on Friday. The second is in the main Disneyland park, at the Plaza Garden Stage, at 4:45, Sunday. That's just in case anyone happens to be vacationing around there.

So, come next week, I'll have had my pasty white skin turned darker (or redder, if I forget sunblock), I'll be minus a few hundred dollars in cash, and I'll get mickey's head on a platter... I mean... erh... oops.

(Don't worry, I won't kill the mouse... this time. )

So, wish me luck, and hope that <Insert malady or bad luck here> doesn't happen.

Break a reed! Well that's assuming that you play the clarinet, etc...

Post Sun May 16, 2004 9:36 pm

Well, a reed would cover almost every instrument in a typical school band.. Unless the bow for a string instrument is made of something else.

have fun! my high school does that (we get to do it every year)
we go to 2 different places. Edmonton Canada, or california

calshire: Last time I checked, brass instruments (like the French Horn I play) don't have reeds... maybe I missed it over the past 6 years, though.

sS: Well... more than a week, I'm sure. The difference is, I won't be lurking. That means that if something came up that especially pertained to me (Such as a post called: "Whaspy, wherefor art thou whaspy?" then I wouldn't be able to reply.

Wolfy: *every* year? Wow, that's three times as often as our school.

Edit:

@Whasp: French Horn doesn't have a reed? Well, now that I think about it, it shouldn't have a reed. I don't think a trumpet has one either.
No, brass instruments do not have reeds. Trumpet, Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, Cornet, Mellophone, etc... don't have reeds, as the mechanics for creating the sound is entirely different. (Buzzing).

Edit (again), oh, and I live in Airdrie, close to Calgary, and I have family up in Edmonton.

You younguns are lucky, all we did was get to graduate, no trips or anything.

Post Mon May 17, 2004 3:50 pm

Yep. We were belted around by Nuns and Priests as a matter of course, usually because we couldn't speak Latin properly. We then went to University and picked up a career in IT. We then ended up with two kids, a wife, and a house in Staffordshire... oh wait, that's Taw's life .

Since you ARE going very close to Hollywood and since you are going to be in THE show business State, break a leg! Whatever you do, don't bust a lip (ouch). French horn, my gosh, how did you ever manage to get the right kind of pucker for that eensy weensy mouthpiece? (as asked by an ex- concert tuba and trombone player )

i dont find it hard

Indy - I always hated the fact that you had to stick your hand in the bell; I was always worried that mine would get stuck when I tried out for that instrument many years ago .

Post Mon May 17, 2004 6:32 pm

Well...... you knew it had to be French if you had to stick your hand in it.....
