ram Jet engine

I think that the general principle behind the design of a ramjet engine is the same as what makes a turboprop turn the propeller blades. That's what I meant.

so taw's gonna strap himself to a doodlebug and go to space break a leg taw.

You'd be better off strapping on a solid rocket booster, providing you nail it at the right moment it would guarentee you at least low orbit. Not like a ramjet or scram jet choking out when the air gets too thin.

SRB's are usually disposable cos you have to jettison the weight when theyre used up. The point is for it to be 100% re-usable if possible.

every day is like Sunday, every day is silent and grey..

You don't necessarily have to jettison it and I don't see any reason why the casing can't be re-used. Granted you'd have to remove it everytime you need to refuel the thing.

finalday, is it just me, or is the nose cone full of holes? my god, there is no way in hell that i would get into something like that and go into space. no wonder america has the the most "nutjobs"!

Post Thu Jun 03, 2004 4:24 am

the nose cone is full of holes for aerodynamic purposes or as air intake for an engine

Post Thu Jun 03, 2004 4:27 am

Those look like view ports rather than holes. It is afterall, dropped in flight to then fire its engine to reach space rather than useing booster rockets.

mine was better.

..fold your hands child, you walk like a peasant..

er... Taw, IIRC the doodlebug ran on jet engines
Basicly yes,.. but more specificly they Ran on Pulse Jet engines, which are Basicly the same principle of a RamJet engine iirc.

The Pulse Jet engine was invented already back in 1910, by a German engineer IIRC. I can't recall his name at the time, but maybe I remember it later on.

@Taw,

When I worked in the design section of the Feiseler FlugzeugenWerke in 1944.. (oops)
Do you remember the British favorite slogan during Both wars??? No?? well it was: Loose Lips Sink ships!!
Maybe a good Time to take up on the advice maybe??
