i take it you haven't actually tried lying yet?

I'd love to go back in time to my last date and give myself a kick up the arse and tell myself not to be such a nervous fool and relax! Oh well.....

*wonders* woudlnt it be cool if i could go back to when i was in 1st grade...and still be as smart as i am now...then i would be in high school at the age of nine...that would be cool (or maybe its the other way)

Wolfy, it would be a machine to let you go and change what you did, not relive at current knowledge. That would be too easy and too much fun.

Hmmm. I think they had a "What If" machine on Futurama. Now if I could change anything, I would change the parts this year for when I didn't get off my rear and actually did my homework.

I've thought about going back in time myself quite a lot and have it all planned out. I would go back to when I was 4 years old with all of the knowledge and memories I have today and relive/change my youth. There are so many things I wish I had never done, which I regret almost every day. I would do just about anything to change them.

It's an axe, I use it to...hack at people

You'd be surprised how much it costs to look this cheap

I've got a little problem with people who are fixated on thinking about what they SHOULD'VE done, but didn't. They should be living in the now. Dwelling on the past is gonna make you miserable. Believe me, I know. Don't forget what happened, but think about what you do NOW and focus on it.

"If it's our time to die, it's our time. All I ask is that when it's our time, if we have to give these b******s our lives, WE GIVE 'EM HELL BEFORE WE DO!"

Meh. I stand by most of my decisions, but I don't dwell upon the past. It's not a good thing as Mee suggested.

I would've liked to have had my career underway a little earlier though, but I lacked maturity in my early 20's so that wasn't meant to be and of course there was the one that got away, but I tried my best there. So no....no real regrets

i'd go back and change colleges 4 years ago, going to the sixth form college instead of technical college, probably would have been FAR greater help to me in the long run

*trundles out an old portable phonograph, puts LP on platter and gently places
needle on record*.......

And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, I'll say it clear,
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain.

I've lived a life that's full.
I've traveled each and ev'ry highway;
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I've had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

I planned each charted course;
Each careful step along the byway,
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall;
And did it my way.

I've loved, I've laughed and cried.
I've had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing.

To think I did all that;
And may I say - not in a shy way,
"No, oh no not me,
I did it my way".

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows -
And did it my way!

Boo! Get off the stage! *Uses big hook to yank Indy and phonograph out of sight* .

not to put a damper on things, but IF you could go back and alter some aspect or event in your lives so that your future (now present) was different, what about the effect your actions have on others, intended or not, foreseeable or not? what if say you decided that yu would ask out a girl you'd secretly fancied (when in the original timeline you'd never had the courage) and in the process of hanging out for her after school, you were late setting off for home. Originally you'd seen an old man about to step out in front of a bus, and you'd put out your arm and stopped him. Now you're late and you don't make it, and he does step out in front of the bus... you read in the obituary column of the local paper he'd been a Spifire pilot in the Battle of Britain.

ok that's an extreme example and i weighted the emotional impact, but it makes my point. Time poceeds not so much like a river but like an exponential tree, forever in motion and branching and linking from all direction. Any action you take has a reciprocal effect which in turn affects something else and so on. So, armed with this knowledge, that anything you do which alters your life in the past, has repurcussions of which you can know nothing, would you still go back?

Pugh, thats why it would be good to have a machine to look back and see what effect a choice made unfolds. Have you seen the movie, "It's a Wonderful Life" With Jimmy Stewart? shows a few of the changes,vers the bad and their outcome. But it will never stop me from wishing I could chnage key areas.

I was actually thinking of Capra, yes, but i chose not to use that example because i didn't want to appear mawkish.
