Bad News for Indy...
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

I just thought that I'd post this. Apparently, Intel's new chipsets that are being released in June will not support Win98 or ME. They will only support up-to-date versions of 2000 and XP. You'd better upgrade Indy .
@supersnipa:
And we care that you dont, why?
This was coming ever since they came up with 64-bit chips, a solely 16-bit OS will NOT run on a solely 64-bit chip, same thing will happen with 32-bit OS's when 128-bit Processers come outm and 64-Bit OS's to 256-Bit processore and so forth...

The article says:
So. Technically, were I to be silly enough to go through all the effort of putting together a new PC with all the latest technology and still run Me, I could do it.
In all seriousness though, I've stayed with Me on my Dell because it is not optimized for XP, without another BIOS update and because it has stood me in good stead these past 3+ years.
So laugh all you want Taw, I really don't feel left out in the dark....continent or otherwise.

Although not supported by the 915 and 925 chipsets, both Windows 98 and Windows ME are compatible to the two chips, but neither OS will run as efficiency as it should, said the sources.

Also this:
It will be up to the chipset makers like VIA Technologies and Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) to continue offering support to the Windows 98 and Windows ME.
Both these companies don’t plan to launch their chipsets until the third quarter.
For the moment it seems that the new chipset won’t be able to make budget users using older versions of windows happy as apart from the high price because of new technologies like PCI Express and DDR2 SDRAM inside, a new operating system will also be needed.

I'll be keeping an older system around for a long time, if not just to play all my good ol' DOS games. Yeah sure there are dos emulators but really, some games just don't play well under them. Privateer isn't too finicky but I hear it doesn't 100% under XP? Not to mention the Crusader games (both of which I own and love to death ), those won't run in a DOS box under any circumstances, so I'm ruling out running those on an XP system. At least until somebody can get them running smoothly with the ingame movies, sound, and music

@Esqy,
Well, this is why I am getting upgrade fever and really beginning to feel itchy about waiting for PCI Express.
I am tempted to just build an economy AMD 64, to get a feel for what's involved and then watch what happens in the hardware world to make another REAL stab at it in 2005/2006 with more serious components after PCI Express and 64-bit have settled in.

I think that what I will do is put together a new PC based upon what is available in the middle to lower end priced technologies as of June 30. Except that I might splurge and get two of those 36gig WD Raptors and setup a Raid0...
running a 10K, wow....
*mumbles to self and shambles off in search of medication*
