Old games, what to do?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Mustang - Of course! I wouldn't post a link to something like that on TLR! I'm a good boy!

Indy - Yeah you lazy bum! Don't you have second-hand computer game shops on Britain?

Nah, I'd never toss out me classic games. I still play Starlancer from time to time.

silly Rabbithead, the Rockefeller Centre is in Noo Dwork Citeh, on 6th Ave not far from where Ed "works" or at least where he spends his days TLR-ing and reading the NY Times.

I know Indy is a Yank! Damn! I must have been thinking of Taw when I wrote that . Well, it's too late to change it now; I'm so embarrassed .

I'm heading out now to get that there properly boxed copy.... if any are left.

Hot diggity dog, now I get to find out what the bleep this SL thing is all about!
I supposed I need to rummage around and resurrect by joystick? Hate those things.

<Edit>

Got it! The next to the last copy. Fully boxed like you said Taw. Talk about serendipity!

With sales tax, a grand total cost of $2.16

Whoooohooo!

<sigh> see? am I ever wrong? now will you be ok getting home, or do you need directions?

Post Fri Apr 23, 2004 9:00 am

Well let's see. If I reverse directions from here to the ones I took getting here, I ought to be OK. Thanks for the offer but I believe I am good for that.

now you've actually got a copy of SL, I suppose you ought to know a few things. It can be buggy, due to completely screwed dynmic sound. You must turn off 3D sound in the game options and don't set EAX or it will crash at the most annoying intervals. Some of the movies can be b*ggers for loading, so make sure you have plenty of RAM and a defragged hdd. You don't need a stonking fast system to play it, but any obvious bottlenecks will be very noticeable on SL. And the MS Sidewinder joystick works beautifully with it. Welcome, you're a REAL Lancer now!

do the training first, SL combat is a knack you have to learn, it's not as easy as FL at all. Practice with your missiles especially Jackhammers as you never carry enough, so make each one count.

I've got an ol' logitech force feedback jobby. I'll go with that. Really don't want to have to buy another Jstick. Wifey got it for me a while back when she overheard me p*ssing and moaning about needing one to play Mechwarrior.

I was speechless. She's not all that happy about my game playing to the exclusion of time with her. Anyway, I hooked it up, got the surprise of my life with all the force feedback stuff and found out that I did better with the key-board than with the joystick and so sort of let it just sit there in pride of place, unused, so as not to disappoint her.
