Just curious...

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

The Lancers Reactor's spiritual father and Administrator/Owner Christian "Bargib" Koerner started this site in February 2000. The very first newspost on the frontpage was made on February 22, 2000. If you want to see the very first welcoming post by Bargib, click here!

Ya, it's 3 or 4 years old. But I think thats old for a web site.

I was browsing the site for mods and tools long before I registered...in hindsight that was pretty stupid, there are great people posting here

pretty old as web sites go.

90% of saites are like so:
Register @ GeoCities
Design Horrid website
Site fizzles away

once again I'll mention how this site is one of 6 good websites I've ever encountered.

4 years? Here's to 4 more *raises glass*

I can second that. Heck - I only registered when i found the correct place to post a question about modding. I found the site, but since i had never "joined in" an onine "community" I didn't bother registering at all, or even staying around to check anything. I perhaps visited twice (to find where wrecks were on the map we have) in my second month of playing , but STILL didn't really "understand" what games websites could offer (seriously, i never even knew there were fan sites for games, much less that there were resources, and didn't even know it was POSSIBLE to cheat in a game at all!!!!!!!.

However, after seeing a certain mod for the first time, i came here to find out more (found out you could change things about the game). I went to general editing, and seeing the nature of posts, I didn't ask any questions until someone made a thread for Newbie Questions - which made me register, and post my first question......and it was only just after the thread was started (mine being first post about an hour after thread opened up). By the time i had registered, i was really wanting to find out how this guy had done what he had done to my files!
The rest is "history"

Life of a website depends upon the amount of visitors, participants and more. Without anyone coming, there is no point in updating things. Lancers Reactor has a "niche" as the premier FL and SL site in the world for info and more! That is a good feat . So from the perspective that games sites last as long as the poeple playing the game stay interested in the game, this has hit a "mid" life in length of running time (*this is meant in the way that most sites die within two years MAX. However, some classic games like Elite still have a community about them and more!! - so they are the LONG time sites etc). Undoubtedly Freelancer revived it, as if it was only starlancer, i would have thought it would have "fizzled" away by now. As long as their is a community here though, then poeple will make things/keep coming here. If thats 100% true, then the action is picking up, so although the overall FL gamers community is getting smaller, the site is STILL going strong, with more mods and additions being made all the time. This is all EXCELLENT for the community . A really good sign is that there are new poeple coming and registering EACH day. They like what they see, and start to participate! Some older members also seem to come back every now and then, and start to replay FL - so the site should be going strong for quite some time

Thanks for those links, Eraser. I didn't know a lot of that! EB likes the Monkey Island Series? I knew that there was a reason I liked him!

I too, had never been a part of an "online community" before stepping out of the shadows that I lurked in, and creating my first mod. Ah, I remember the days when I was anonymous... oh well, at least I'm learning new social skills, such as how to good-naturedly abuse "old British codgers" .

Damn u Taw..the site does not exist!

Well I joined here from the link on FL home page. I visited the home page to see if there were any patches, looked around and LancersReactor logo captured my attention. At first I was cruising around looking at mods and people asking questions...and than one day I joined (asked a quastion in FL general) and never left since

Lol, just read my old posts...hell I cant believe was such a NOOB such short time ago

It's amazing how many anti-social bastards we have here.
