I''m Transferring The Amount To Your Neural Net Now

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

A quote from Celso of That 70's Show:I gotta have that car,El Camino is spanish for The Camino

That's what happens when impressionable young people watch movies *shakes head* .

I don't think that we have to worry just yet. We (that is we older types), will be long gone before that happens. Hopefully. Still, RF chips are already here and are being used in shops, so it's only a matter of time.

why do you feel so safe? what if the technology is already in use, for really deep dark govt shi*t? Surveillance is everywhere, all your personal details are logged somewhere, we're constantly manipulated by the media and advertising, and there's no real privacy in modern life. You underestimate the authorities if you think they wouldn't try this stuff out the moment they got their hands on it. Artificially enhanced humans would give any govt a tremendous advantage, for espionage and intelligence work, and in combat. All that sci-fi cr*p might be true (ish) y'know

(no Esq I'm not being paranoid)

Yes you ARE being paranoid! But it's warranted. Why do you think I'm such a security nut? I haven't quite gravitated towards sending all of my emails using PGP yet; mainly because no-one else knows what it is!

Post Tue Apr 13, 2004 4:20 pm

Yeah.

What if that mosquito bite you got last year wasn't a mosquito but one of those ID Sniper Rifle payloads?

OMG, that's why you're Esquilax. Taw! It's all a ruse, he isn't named after somekind of rabbity-headed horsey thingy, its his REAL name. He's some kinds of Melbournian Cyber-lurker whose invaded to OT to .... uh.... I dunno, DO SOMETHING NEFARIOUS!

EVERYBODY!!!! RUN AWAAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!!!!

Must post on TLR ... Cover blown...Must Eliminate Subject Indy11...

Actually, I'm not a real person. I live inside the internet; you know, "Ghost in the Shell" style. Note: I REALLY have to see that movie.

Look, I can see the benefits of having some sort of "Neural Interface", but there is so much harm that could be done with such a device. Not to mention that fact that if you put your head too close to a magnet, you would have trouble accessing the local ATM!

Post Tue Apr 13, 2004 6:00 pm

Who needs an ATM if one has a neural net? Well, I guess I would because I would not want a neural implant. *shivers, gets mental image of picture of neuro surgery
being conducted*

Post Tue Apr 13, 2004 6:20 pm

The ATM would be a "neural station". You know, for convenience. You don't want to carry too much cache on your chip .

*rimshot*

Post Wed Apr 14, 2004 1:09 am

What does that mean? Is that a compliment? I'm not into all of this internet lingo .

Post Wed Apr 14, 2004 7:30 am

As long as the implants don't have BSODs or anything similar, the use of such things won't be too horrible...i hope.

"A scratch? Your wing is off!"
"No it isn't"
"Then what's that then?"
"I've had worse"

Post Wed Apr 14, 2004 8:45 am

When they start this kind of thing, I will be going strickly to cash on the barrel head. No implants, no chips, nothing that can be used to track your movements. In this reguard, I'm more parinoid than Esq. Not a snow balls chance ina very hot place will I ever let anyone do it to me or family members. *Is someone there?*

@ final, not even for a scooby snack?

@Esqy -

Uh. Don't even know if it is proper internet lingo. I'll leave that to the others to say.

There is a long line of standup comedians in the US from the old school. These guys would deliver jokes with punchlines which, in order to help punctuate the punchline would have the club's stage drummer fire off a quick "ba-da-dum-dum" type riff on the snare drum, the final "dum" being a rimshot as opposed to a clean hit of the drum skin.

So, in short hand, here, we often punctuate each other's joke punchlines by saying "ba-da-dum, etc." or making hand gestures that immitate a drummer executing a rimshot. It's only conferred on jokes with punchlines that, while amusing in a sense, also is painful due some other attirbute as in forced pun, over used analogy, worn-out innuendo, etc.
