Sir Spectre''s post - a.k.a. trying to catch the greased bov

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Indy what do you mean by "past-posting"

because if you mean using the post-window
from before it was locked, then i coudnt
do that because stinger moved the thread
to a different address, See

I actually just first learned of "past-posting" or "lock evading" a few days ago when I evaded the lock on Comont's thing about, uh, yeah.

Post Fri Apr 09, 2004 7:19 pm

It's been the craziest time watching my locked thread in Starlancer Discussion going up to 13 posts from 11 then going back down t2. But just before seeing Aod do a Test thread with "Test" in the body of a "Test" post, then immediately having a "Test" reply, then with me coming in with an "Echo" .

@AoD

It's an old term pre-technology term for putting up a record after the cut-off, usually with the intention of making it look like it happened before the cut-off.

@SnS

Rats. I cannot scroll back that far. One is the subject of one of your plays. The other is someone whose nick I cannot remember but who had announced a rather ambitious Mod at the time (not as ambitious as the pie man's) got really obnoxious about it and basically started to sound like a little 9 year old bully-brat.

I've been leaning more toward the brat at this point.

indy11, i dont understand, explain further

Post Fri Apr 09, 2004 7:26 pm

@Indy, Uba and Rubicon already have the cloak. So neither of them need to get it again.

As for my theory. It's a poster who presently posts today in General Editing. He says a word in particular that is exactly how PP writes it. I'm thinking he's been learning to edit for a couple of months, then decided to test out what people might think of it under an alias or he wanted to mess with people, but without blowing his cover as to who he really is.

@AoD

PRE-TECHNOLOGY explanation below.

Say you are a record/book keeper at some business in which the receipt of things, money, product, whatever, needs to be timed in and out, out and in. Time being important to account for something, money, rights, compliance, what have you.

Past posting would be instances in which you record the receipt or shipping of that something with a false date to make it look like it came in or went out before a specific time, i.e., before weekly closing or monthly accounting, etc.

It is a dishonest practice and in some cases, you could go to jail.

NOTE: I am not suggesting that this last bit applies to you.

@SnS

OK then, I'm liking the brat even more. Wish I could go back far enough but its too much of a hassle. Besides, I'm very likely wrong so it keeps me from falsely accusing anyone.

@AoD

I didn't mean to say you were doing that. It's an old term loosely used to describe, not explain, stuff like you did with the lock evading. I am not pretending to know what you did although, by mistake, I've ended up posting beyond a lock, don't ask me to explain how it happened.

@Eh_Steve,

You REALLY want to be remembered as a lock evader with THAT particular instance?

Post Fri Apr 09, 2004 7:37 pm

@Indy, here is a quote from PP

Damn my pc! It wont load up properly the only way that ive been able to write dis is bcause im usin my laptop! I installed a virius ting and now my pc is buggered!
My freelancer stopped workin 4 sum reason so i took chips advice and got a virius scanner but it has mucked up my pc!

And this is a post by poster in question:

I mean the Li_Cruiser_Maingun and Ku_Cruiser_Maingun (and other mainguns). These effects are not like the other, and as far as I can tell, I can't change a ting about them. I can't even make the effect longer/wider..

Plus neither have been around very long, they both have hotmail addresses and none have the high quality English of native speakers.

@Indy, no, I don't even wanna remember that particular instance. In fact...
What instance? What are you talking about?

Post Fri Apr 09, 2004 7:43 pm

@SnS

O.T.....

high quality English of native speakers.

Obviously, you're not from around my neck of the woods. High quality English and native speakers are kind of contradictions in terms over here. We've got adult education classes devoted to help native speakers to lose their low quality English and take on some better quality English.

B-O.T.....

I see what you mean. I SO wanted it to be that brat!
