S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow Of Chernobyl

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow Of Chernobyl

You guys seen this game? sounds really cool, its like a FPS/RPG taking place in the zone around the disaster of chernobyl if it were to have happened a second time in 2006. I was just at the game site and it looks really intriguing, generally in real life things that tend to get me pretty bothered are diseases, biological warfare, and radiation. Which is interesting because this seems to tickle that little fear sense there (gotta admit its eery to think theres things that could kill millions without being seen or heard or noticed) Apparently its gonna be really realistic its gonna have day/night cycles, characters who have to eat and sleep (i actually dont like this feature much) but nonetheless. The graphics look absolutely stunning, supposedly the devs took trips to the area around chernobyl and then came back with footage and photos and recreated them in-game. Its supposed to be like Fallout in that the whole game is open to travel and exploration right away. It all just sounds really good, of course one has yet to gauge its appeal to the open market.

Nonetheless I think its really interesting the little "anomalies" you can find that can kill you and you can get like radiation sickness and stuff. In the end what i think is i think its taking a sensitive and incredibly intriguing subject, throwing in a little horror, and realism, which is a very potent combo, if a game is realistic and horrifying it has a chance to become truly a game to get scared by. I was just thinking about how interesting it must be to explore that ruined nuclear planet and all those radiation hazards and mutants and generally the environment its all really incredible. Anyone else looking forward to this???? sounds like a game i definitly want.

PS: i think the game's homepage is THQ.com or stalker.com or something i dunno, look it up on google.

Bah !
Just play Deus Ex for a proper FPS/RPG/Stealth hybrid.

I have to admit though, it looks promising, just hope it doesn't go the way of the Dodo, like Deus Ex 2 did when it got ported to a console half-way though development, and the developer *forgot* to enhance the PC version.

I think we all need a new Deus Ex though don't we? C'mon, it's at least 4 years old now! I look forward to reading some more about it when its a bit closer to production

I've been following this game for a while, and it looks interesting, but I'll see what the reviews say.

Rec - There is a Deus Ex 2 you know.

But did it really compare to the original?

It's made for a console.
No skill system, less augs than in the original.
WAY shorter, and the guard's AI which makes a doom monster AI look good.
It needs "Pixal Shader 1.1" which means that you need to downgrade to a GeForce 3 at least to play, and even then the graphics are still bad.
The story's quite good though.

How do I know all this ?
I own it for PC (unfortunatly)

I've been following STALKER for ages, I'm really hoping it lives up to it promises. Cause if it does, it's going to be a corker of a game. Think of an FPS in a post apocalyptic Vice City and that's generally what im expecting from STALKER. I'm just hoping that reviews are complimentary, otherwise i'll be mighty dissapointed.

Yeah the game looks absolutely badass, cant wait till its out. Its soooooo eery though, i read through it a bunch it has potential to be a extremely scary game. Its roots in the real world are what make it so scary, the nuclear holocaust, the psychic projects, i mean did you see the real picture of the huge antenna nobody can explain? Really great stuff, incredibly eery, i also read about their trip to chernobyl, really cool stuff like how they couldnt touch the trees and that city thats completely dead, awesome stuff.

Hrm... hope it'll be as good as they say when it comes out. I guess the game will require one heck of computer to run.
Just watched the trailer - goood! It's kinda big though - ca. 37 MB.
An idea came to my head and is now desperately searching for brain
