Will McAfee work with the virus scan thing?

ok, so we know what your system specs are, when your system is sitting idle, open task manager(ctrl-alt-del) and go to the 'performance' tab. Write down all the nubers you see and thier specs and repost them here.

On secon thought, post a screenie of the preformance tab.

Included is a picture of what you should see when you do that with optimal readings for running FL:

Ariana - you got the extension in the wrong case. My host is case sensitive about files like images etc, as is yours. You used .jpg, which is usually the photoshop extension casing, but the picture is actually .JPG extension - same format, just in caps - which is what paint commonly gives them! This is why the image didn't work til now

How do I post a screen? I'm really new at this stuff.

How much RAM do you have, Jag? If you have only a small amount (eg. 256mb), Windows sets the pagefile on "Auto", which is 1.5x the size of yior RAM (usually), and thus you end up with only a small PF. How big is your HDD anyway?

Huh? I'm no computer wizard, I'm just 12 so I'll need some instructions on how to check things, post screens, etc.

Click the Start button. On the menu, click control panel. Of the list on that page, near the bottom, click on System icon. When its open, on the lower part will list the amount of ram you have.

I have 128 mb of RAM. I thought it would be higher, oh well. I checked startup folder as well and I "think" theres only 2 background programs are running.

Hi Jagged,

Not all programs that run in the background are in the startup folder. What's the total number of icons in your system tray (lower right corner of desktop)? If you look at the screen shot that Arania posted on page 1, you'll see that his desktop has 4 icons, that means 4 programs running in the background.

acutally, i have eight running, XP hides the inactive ones.

128Mb of ram is a bit small, so you might want to up the vitual memory size manually to about 500Mb or so...

Thanks, I have 7 programs running in the background.

I can custom set my paging file too and I have plenty of extra sapce on my comp. should i set it to a custom amount?

Post Fri Apr 09, 2004 4:21 am

Yah, set it as high as you want since you have a same RAM like me. I just have tuned and defraged and messed around with my computer so much that it works fine. I've got a programme called MaxMemory that clears up memory when I'm not using it.
